Job Description

CDM Smith's BI & Reporting team is in the middle of a significant transformation, migrating from Qlik Sense to Power BI, evolving our semantic layer strategy, and actively reshaping how we build and deliver BI solutions using AI-assisted and agentic development practices. We are looking for a Manager of Advanced Analytics to take ownership of key initiatives from concept through delivery, working closely with business stakeholders, and our onshore and offshore development teams.

This is not a purely technical builder role, and it is not a people management role. It is a delivery and execution role for someone who understands BI deeply, can manage a project with real ownership, and is genuinely excited about how AI and agentic tools are changing the way BI teams work.

The successful final candidate will:

Take full ownership of assigned BI initiatives from scoping through delivery, including the Revenue Forecast Accuracy effort and future segmentation and reporting projects.
Act as the connective tissue between business stakeholders and the development team, translating business needs into clear, buildable requirements.
Partner directly with the Senior Application Architect and Senior Analytics Developer to redefine Business Intelligence at CDM Smith.
Champion the adoption of AI-assisted and agentic development practices across the team, helping developers work faster and smarter using tools like Copilot and Claude.
Manage timelines, priorities, and stakeholder expectations under real pressure, including competing deadlines and shifting scope.
Review and guide the technical direction of Power BI and Fabric solutions, even when you're not the one building them.
Identify process gaps and drive improvements in how the team scopes, builds, and ships BI solutions.

Skills & Abilities

Ability to own advanced analytics projects from start to finish, spot early signs of stalled progress, and course-correct to keep deadlines on track.
Strong working knowledge of Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and semantic model design.
Genuine, self-directed experience using AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude to improve your own work.
Proven ability to influence and drive outcomes without formal authority, particularly with distributed or offshore teams.
Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with business stakeholders to uncover what they need, not just what they ask for.
Composure and clear prioritization under pressure, especially when facing competing deadlines.
Advanced knowledge of SQL.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree
8 years of relevant experience

Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Direct Lake, or Databricks.
Background in a consulting, agency, or client-services environment.
Exposure to agentic development concepts or workflows.
Experience partnering with offshore or distributed development teams.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.

USD $122,595.00

Pay Range Max

USD $214,510.00
