The Manager, Auditing Operations manages and directs the activities of the TIS audit staff to ensure adherence to policies and procedures as well as ensuring client satisfaction through expedient response and resolution to client inquiries and complaints.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Provides daily guidance to direct reports including leading department problem resolution efforts and providing regular feedback, administering performance appraisals, and coaching for future success.
- Actively engages the IT group in identifying systematic issues with the development of the global collaboration platform as it pertains to the rating and audit function.
- Works with client programming to improve systematic rating of accounts.
- Monitors reporting on audit and rating performance on a regular basis.
- Ensures the audit staff works with the rate loading group to have contracts loaded correctly in RMS, and that all necessary rating elements are present and applied.
- Responsible for training, evaluation, and development of Audit staff.
- Creates a work environment where employees are encouraged to identify process improvements and suggestions that have returns in terms of increased efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction
- Writes and performs bi-annual audit department performance evaluations as well as coordinate and maintain department PTO requests and schedules.
- Implements changes and enhancements that will improve the overall efficiency and quality of the Audit group
- Responds to client relations inquiries and concerns regarding rating activities of clients.
- As required, assists the Sales and Marketing Department in their efforts to obtain additional auditing business.
- Responsible for training new employees, as well as providing continuing training of existing staff in auditing automation techniques and processes.
- Performs special projects, as requested.
- Other duties as needed or assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Good analytical skills and the ability to perform with little or no supervision.
- Good interpersonal skills to represent the department to customers and others.
- An extensive understanding of various carrier pricing, tariff, and contract rate applications, European, domestic and international.
- A complete working knowledge of automated rating systems.
- Capable of handling the most complex audit applications.
- Extensive knowledge of automation tool usage and implementation.
- Superior communication skills with both clients and associates.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including the direct management of a team.
- Ability to responsibly delegate job functions and to lead subordinates by example.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and a cursory knowledge of Microsoft SQL, preferred.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED:
- A bachelor's degree in business administration including transportation and carrier pricing related courses or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 5+ years rating experience with a carrier, shipper or equivalent.
- 3+ years of leadership experience
