This Finance position in the Credit & Fraud Risk Controllership (C&FRC) organization plays a critical role in protecting and assuring the integrity of AXP financial statements and proactively mitigating controllable financial risk. As part of a world-class Controllership group, the C&FRC organization is responsible for managing the end-to-end credit reserve process — from reserve adequacy assessment through external and regulatory reporting. Purpose of the Role The incumbent will be responsible for credit reserve accounting & reporting for the Commercial Services (CS) & US Consumer Services (USCS) portfolio. The role requires the ability to synthesize complex datasets, leverage modern analytical tools, leverage Gen AI and partner across a highly matrixed organization to drive financial control excellence. Responsible for accurate and timely accounting of credit reserves. Responsible for Credit metrics reporting for senior management packs. Externally disclosed metrics and regulatory filings for Credit Reserves related to American Express and its subsidiaries, including related analyses. Partner and collaborate with CFR, Corporate Planning & Analysis teams to define and implement reserving methodologies. Perform analytics on big data to generate insights on credit metrics and drivers of performance. Support change management related to continuous improvement along with overall control and governance. Partner with Business, Network, and Technology teams to support platform modernization and automation initiatives. Support internal and external audit reviews and controls, including SOX - RCSA Management. Manage a team of 1–2 colleagues. Technical Skills Understanding of System of Record (SOR) architecture, data flows, and governance frameworks that underpin financial reporting. Hands-on experience with big-data handling — including aggregation, computation, and validation of high-volume datasets across multiple platforms. Applied knowledge of Generative AI (GenAI) tools and techniques, including prompt engineering and AI-assisted analytics for finance use cases. Experience with credit reserves, portfolio analysis, financial modelling, and accounting. Strong working knowledge of financial and reporting tools such as Oracle, LUMI, Tableau, and TM1. Knowledge of AXP systems (e.g.,Triumph, Globestar, MARS) is a plus. Strong process orientation and analytical problem-solving skills; demonstrated process improvement experience. Leadership & Interpersonal Skills Proven ability to operate and deliver in a matrix organization — influencing and driving outcomes without direct authority. Demonstrated skill in bringing others along — building consensus, coaching peers, and elevating team capability across functions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex financial and technical concepts into clear, actionable narratives for senior stakeholders. Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, and effectively manage in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Eligibility 5–7 years of accounting and reporting experience, including solid knowledge of US GAAP accounting, SEC, and Regulatory Reporting. Degree in Accounting / Finance; CPA or CA preferred. The incumbent should be tenured for a minimum of 18 months at Band 30 or Band 35 in the current role as of the application deadline. The incumbent should not be on Level 3 or above counselling at the time of applying.
