About the Role

(Role purpose / objective)

The Manager, Meetings and Conventions is responsible for the planning, logistics, and execution of internal meetings, incentive programs, conferences, and exhibits. This role ensures operational excellence, compliance, and exceptional attendee experiences on behalf of internal and external Takeda meetings.

How you will contribute:
(Key accountabilities and responsibilities)

  • Meeting & Event Logistics Management: Own end-to-end logistical planning and execution across the full meeting portfolio — launch meetings, National Sales Meetings, POA and SLT meetings, incentive and recognition programs, conferences, exhibits, symposia, and product theaters — including registration, housing and room blocks, transportation, Production, DMC management, food and beverage, ancillary meeting spaces.
  • Vendor Leadership: Lead event management companies and vendor partners, driving timely delivery of services, contract adherence, and alignment with event goals
  • Budget Oversight: Develop and oversee program budgets and SOWs, negotiate hotel and vendor contracts, and maintain financial compliance and transparency across the portfolio
  • Compliance, Safety & Fair Market Value: Ensure all meetings adhere to organizational policy, safety standards, and security protocols, as well as U.S. pharmaceutical compliance, regulatory, and fair market value requirements for HCP and patient-facing components
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Legal, HR, Medical, Commercial Operations, Procurement and brand teams to align meeting objectives with business goals
  • Capacity & Demand Planning: Collaborate with internal teams to establish brand demand, including launch plans, and allocate resources across the meeting portfolio to meet business needs
  • Technology & Continuous Improvement: Advance registration and event technology platforms and process automation; gather feedback, analyze event outcomes, and implement improvements to enhance future planning and attendee experience

Expected skills

minimum education, knowledge or experience required to be successful in role.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of meeting planning, conferences, and exhibit operations experience within the pharmaceutical, biopharma, medical device and/or life sciences industry.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder events and vendor relationships
  • Knowledge of compliance, regulatory, and fair market value requirements
  • Experience with large-scale national conferences, medical congresses, or trade shows.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PharmD, or related)
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience
  • Experience planning internal meetings within a centralized Customer Engagement or Commercial Operations function
  • Familiarity with event technology platforms, registration systems, and virtual/hybrid event tools
  • Proficiency with reporting and analytics tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

Travel up to 20% in support of internal and external meetings. Travel may include nights and weekends.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$116,000.00 - $182,270.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
