Job Title: M anager, People & Culture Location : Mainly remote. Occasional travel will be required to various campuses as per business needs Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Start Date: Immediate Compensation: $85,000 annually The Opportunity: The Manager, People & Culture (P&C) is responsible for providing the overall strategic direction for People & Culture of the college. The Manager provides practical, consistent, and proactive support, direction and advice to other managers and employees on P&C procedure, policy, recruitment, benefits, best practices, and legislation to facilitate in achieving the objectives and targets of the college. What you'll be doing: Manage, train and mentor direct reports. Manage the employee accommodation process. Identify and implement tools to assist the people & culture team to be effective and efficient. Develop guidelines, training materials and operational manuals to support the human resources function in the college. Oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development. Manage and implement the annual salary review process. Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review and modifiy policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management. Facilitate professional development, training, and certification activities for people & culture staff. Provide pragmatic and consistent guidance and advice to managers on grievance, attendance, disciplinary, health & safety, accommodation, and performance issues. Raise proactive issues with managers, identifying practical solutions to complex and diverse human resource issues, and recommend appropriate action plans. Provide coaching to managers on difficult and complex issues. Work closely with legal counsel as required on employee related matters. Manage terminations/off boarding. Prepare contracts and onboarding plans for employees. Prepare separation letters and provide guidance to managers on process. Manage ergonomic assessments and work with IT to order the appropriate equipment if necessary. What you bring to the position: Minimum of 5 years of human resources management experience required. University degree in HR or related field. CHRP or CHRL designation. Intermediate to advanced MS Office Skills (specifically Word and Excel) Expert knowledge of various employment laws and practices. Excellent working knowledge of human rights legislation, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities legislation and Workplace Violence legislation. Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work A reliable vehicle, valid provincial driver’s license. Ability to travel for employee related meetings, campus visits, and maintain a flexible work schedule. This position is for an existing vacancy.
