The Manager, Platform Administration leads the Collaborators and functions responsible for administering Nightingale's core enterprise platforms — including Salesforce, Banner, LMS/Canvas, Anthology, and other mission-critical systems that power the Learner and Collaborator experience. This role sits at the intersection of people leadership and platform strategy: managing a team of Platform Administrators, ensuring system reliability and configuration integrity, and serving as the escalation point for complex platform issues. The Manager translates business needs from Functions across Nightingale into well-governed, scalable platform solutions while developing a high-performing, accountable team.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership
-
Directly manage Platform Administrators across major systems (Salesforce, Banner, LMS/Canvas, Anthology, and others as assigned), including hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and professional development.
-
Set clear priorities, workload distribution, and on-call/escalation coverage across the platform administration team.
-
Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and collaboration consistent with Nightingale's Core 7 framework.
-
Conduct regular 1:1s, team meetings, and performance reviews; identify growth paths and skill gaps within the team.
Platform Oversight & Governance
-
Own the overall health, configuration standards, and change-management discipline for enterprise platforms under the team's purview.
-
Establish and enforce best practices for system configuration, security roles/permissions, data integrity, integrations, and release management.
-
Serve as the primary escalation point for high-severity platform incidents, coordinating cross-functional response and root-cause resolution.
-
Maintain platform roadmaps in partnership with system owners, vendors, and internal partners — balancing new feature requests against stability and technical debt.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Act as a trusted advisor to Function leaders (e.g., Admissions, Registrar, Academics, Advancement) on how platforms like Salesforce, Banner, LMS/Canvas, and Anthology can better support their operations.
-
Partner with Security, Data, and other Infrastructure teams to ensure platforms meet compliance, integration, and data governance standards.
-
Manage relationships with platform vendors, including contract/license oversight coordination and escalation of vendor-side issues.
-
Support intake processes for new platform requests, enhancements, and onboarding of new systems into the team's portfolio.
Process & Documentation
-
Ensure SOPs, configuration documentation, and knowledge bases are current and accessible across all supervised platforms.
-
Drive adoption of standardized change-control, testing, and release procedures across platform teams.
-
Track and report on team performance metrics (ticket resolution, uptime, project delivery) to IT Infrastructure leadership.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required
-
5+ years of experience administering enterprise platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Banner/Ellucian, LMS/Canvas, Anthology, or comparable SaaS/enterprise systems).
-
2+ years of experience directly supervising or leading a technical team.
-
Strong understanding of platform configuration, security models, integrations, and release management practices.
-
Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions across multiple systems.
-
Excellent communication skills, with experience partnering with non-technical Function leaders.
Preferred
-
Experience in higher education or a similarly regulated environment.
-
Platform certifications (e.g., Salesforce Administrator, Ellucian Banner, Canvas Admin, Anthology/Campus Management certifications).
-
Experience with ITSM/ITIL practices, change management frameworks, and incident escalation processes.
-
Familiarity with data governance and FERPA or similar compliance requirements.
What Success Looks Like
-
Platform Administrators are supported, growing, and delivering consistent, high-quality service to internal partners.
-
Enterprise platforms operate reliably with clear governance, minimal unplanned downtime, and well-documented configurations.
-
Function leaders across Nightingale view the platform administration team as a responsive, strategic partner rather than a ticket queue.
