PENN FOSTER GROUP

Manager, Portfolio Marketing — High School Partnerships

Job Description | Reports to: VP, Enterprise & Partnership Marketing

Position Summary

The Manager, Portfolio Marketing for High School Partnerships (HSP) will own the vertical growth strategy and go-to-market system for HSP, serving as the strategic marketing partner to the business. This role translates business priorities, market opportunities, customer insights, and commercial needs into coordinated strategies and go-to-market plans that drive growth. The ideal candidate will develop a deep understanding of the HSP business, school-year cycle, priority states and regions, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and commercial priorities.

This person will work closely with HSP Sales and leadership to identify opportunities in priority schools, states, and regions, determine where to focus and how to win, translate field insight into actionable marketing strategies, and create test-and-learn approaches that generate near-term impact and scale successful plays.

What You’ll Do

Area

Role scope

Vertical strategy & market growth

Identify emerging HSP opportunities; develop market assessments; size and prioritize states, regions, segments, and customer opportunities; and make clear recommendations about where HSP should invest and why.

HSP business partnership

Serve as a strategic partner to HSP leadership and Sales; build deep knowledge of commercial priorities, sales motions, school dynamics, decision-makers, and customer needs; bring a clear point of view to planning conversations.

Seller partnership & field activation

Work shoulder-to-shoulder with sellers to understand priority schools and market barriers; translate field insight into practical GTM plays; support priority-account and priority-market activation; and create feedback loops between the field and Marketing.

Go-to-market & test / learn / scale

Develop state-, region-, and segment-specific growth plays spanning messaging, campaigns, field engagement, conferences, content, and other channels; design tests to validate hypotheses; measure outcomes; and scale what works.

Customer & market intelligence

Analyze customer, commercial, campaign, workforce, school, industry, and competitor data; synthesize quantitative and qualitative insight; distinguish anecdotes from patterns; and build business cases.

Cross-functional leadership

Partner across Marketing, Product, Sales, RevOps, Finance, Legal, Engineering, and other teams to develop coordinated strategies and bring market insight upstream to inform Product and portfolio decisions.

Operating model & capability building

Build the repeatable planning, prioritization, measurement, and learning rhythms that make HSP vertical marketing more effective and increasingly self-sustaining.

What Success Looks Like

  • New HSP growth opportunities are identified, sized, and prioritized with a clear point of view.
  • Priority states, regions, and schools have focused growth plays tied to business objectives.
  • Sellers actively use Marketing as a strategic partner in priority markets and accounts.
  • Near-term commercial impact is visible through market and field activation, testing, and learning.
  • Winning plays are codified and scaled rather than recreated market by market.
  • HSP leadership has a reliable market-intelligence and planning rhythm that improves decision quality.
  • HSP has a repeatable, scalable market-growth and marketing planning rhythm that improves focus and execution.

Who You Are

You are a strategic, commercially minded marketer who can move between market-level strategy and field-level action. You are comfortable getting close to sellers, customers, and the work while maintaining a broader point of view about where the business should grow.

  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and business judgment.
  • Ability to translate complex market and customer signals into clear recommendations and choices.
  • Proven experience partnering with Sales, commercial, product, or business leaders.
  • Comfort challenging assumptions while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to work independently, establish structure, and build new capabilities in ambiguity.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and executive communication skills.
  • Curiosity about K–12 and the ability to learn school, counselor, administrator, and family dynamics quickly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Education, Higher Education, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in vertical marketing, strategic marketing, product marketing, commercial strategy, market intelligence, growth strategy, business development, or a related function.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data and customer insight into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience working with Sales or another commercial organization is strongly preferred.
