What we offer

We are seeking a highly analytical, commercially minded professional who combines strong cost modeling capability with hands-on operational experience. This dynamic role sits at the intersection of Finance, Procurement, Operations, Estimating, and Data Management, turning detailed cost and performance data into clear business decisions. The successful candidate will build decision-ready cost models, analyze market and recent award trends, track departmental performance, support go-to-sale direct cost budget reviews, lead cross-functional projects, and improve the processes used to capture, manage, and report data. Ideal candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds, including operational finance, estimating and cost modelling, operations consulting, or engineering with a focus on value engineering.

What you’ll do

  • Cost modeling: Develop, maintain, and govern granular zero-based cost models across multiple product categories, using itemized build-ups for materials, labour, equipment, overhead, and other cost drivers.
  • Market and award trend analysis: Analyze commodity, labour, logistics, currency, supplier, and recent contract award trends; translate movements into clear monthly reporting, forecasts, risks, and recommended actions.
  • Department KPI tracking: Define, maintain, and report Procurement department KPIs, dashboards, and management insights that improve visibility, accountability, and decision-making.
  • Go-to-sale budget review and project management: Coordinate direct cost budget reviews before community or product launch, challenge assumptions, track decisions and actions, and drive cross-functional workstreams to completion.
  • Data and process improvement: Improve how cost, award, budget, and performance data are captured, structured, validated, and reported; strengthen repeatability, controls, documentation, and data quality.
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, Operations, Estimating, Data Management, Sales & Marketing, and other business units to connect financial analysis with operational realities.
  • Lead scenario modeling, benchmarking, value engineering, and cost-driver analysis to identify savings opportunities and support sourcing, design, and operational decisions.
  • Prepare and deliver concise executive-level presentations that communicate cost structures, performance, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations.
  • Manage multiple analytical and improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment, establishing clear scope, timelines, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Ensure the financial integrity, accuracy, governance, and documentation of models, analyses, budgets, and management reporting.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in operational finance, FP&A, cost analytics, estimating, operations consulting, value engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Advanced financial and cost modeling capability, including detailed cost build-ups, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Strong operational orientation, with the ability to understand how scope, design, productivity, purchasing decisions, and market conditions affect direct cost.
  • Demonstrated experience converting large or complex datasets into accurate, decision-ready analysis and management reporting.
  • Experience defining and tracking KPIs, improving reporting processes, and establishing controls that strengthen data quality and accountability.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and drive work to completion.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems, BI platforms, databases, or data transformation tools is preferred.
  • Strong business partnering, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in homebuilding, construction, building products, manufacturing, or another complex direct-cost environment is an asset, but not required.

Bonus points

  • CPA, CFA, MBA, P.Eng., PMP, or a comparable professional designation.
  • Experience with zero-based costing, should-cost modeling, estimating systems, value engineering, or direct cost budgeting.
  • Experience improving data structures, reporting workflows, or analytical processes across Finance and Operations.
