Purpose and Scope

The Product Launch Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing cross-functional product launch activities for lifecycle management and new product development projects within Technical Operations. This role provides people leadership for an assigned team, including setting priorities, assigning work, coaching and developing employees, managing performance, and ensuring team capabilities support business needs. The position applies strong project management discipline to align stakeholders, maintain timelines, identify risks, support decision-making, and ensure launch-related deliverables are completed in accordance with business priorities, Quality expectations, and applicable Regulatory agency requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional product launch activities for new product development, line extensions, lifecycle management initiatives and related Technical Operations projects.
  • Manage and develop assigned team members, including establishing performance expectations, assigning and prioritizing work, providing coaching and feedback, supporting employee development, and fostering accountability, engagement and collaboration.
  • Carry out manager responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including participating in hiring and onboarding, conducting performance evaluations, addressing performance concerns, supporting corrective action processes when needed, and identifying training or resource needs.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project timelines, action item trackers, decision logs, risk registers, and launch readiness plans to ensure alignment across key stakeholders.
  • Allocate team resources effectively across launch priorities, monitor workload and capacity, remove barriers to execution, and escalate staffing or prioritization concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Partner with MS&T, Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Commercial, R&D, and other functions to identify requirements, dependencies, constraints, and critical path activities related to product launches.
  • Facilitate project team meetings, prepare agendas and meeting summaries, document decisions, drive follow-up actions, and escalate risks or unresolved issues to leadership as appropriate.
  • Monitor launch readiness milestones and support stage-gate or governance processes by preparing status updates, dashboards, and concise leadership communications.
  • Support lifecycle management product launch activities, including packaging changes, process improvements, alternate supplier qualifications, product improvements, scale-up activities, site transfers and other changes impacting commercial or development products.
  • Identify project risks, resource constraints, timeline impacts, and competing priorities; recommend mitigation plans and support timely decision-making.
  • Ensure project documentation is organized, current and accessible, and that launch-related information is communicated clearly to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Utilize Tolmar systems and collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, OneNote, Excel, ServiceNow, UKG, TrackWise, Veeva QualityDocs and other applicable platforms, to support project planning, documentation, communication, workflow tracking and launch execution.
  • Coordinate and support Tolmar launch-related forums, including cross-functional launch readiness meetings, Technical Operations project reviews, lifecycle management forums, stage-gate or governance reviews, MS&T project updates and leadership escalation discussions.
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to strengthen launch planning, communication, governance and execution processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence, collaboration, accountability, and clear communication.
  • Demonstrated people management capability, including setting clear expectations, coaching and developing employees, managing performance, addressing employee relations matters appropriately, and building a high-performing team culture.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, manufacturing, technical operations, quality systems, regulatory expectations and product lifecycle management preferred.
  • Ability to translate complex project information into concise status updates, decision points and action-oriented communications for technical and leadership audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to assess team capability and workload, develop talent, support succession planning, and ensure employees have the tools, training and feedback needed to meet business and compliance expectations.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and Microsoft Office applications; experience with project scheduling, dashboards and collaboration platforms preferred.
  • Experience using Tolmar systems and forums to manage launch readiness, lifecycle management priorities, cross-functional action items, document workflows and leadership status reporting preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, regulated environment while maintaining attention to detail, documentation quality and follow-through.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in project management, product launch management, lifecycle management, new product development, technical operations, manufacturing, or a related function within a regulated industry; pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional product launch, lifecycle management, technology transfer, validation, manufacturing readiness, or regulatory submission-related activities preferred.
  • Prior people management or supervisory experience, including coaching, performance management, employee development, workload planning, and team leadership, required.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with regular interaction across Technical Operations, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, supply chain, and commercial functions.
  • May require occasional travel and flexibility to support project milestones, launch deadlines, or cross-functional meetings.
