The Manager, Prospect Development, is responsible for delivering proactive and reactive donor research that strengthens Share Our Strength’s prospect pipeline and supports strategic fundraising growth. This role conducts relationship mapping, develops donor briefs and profiles, performs wealth screenings, and contributes to custom modeling that enables fundraisers to prioritize prospects and advance donor relationships. Reporting to the Associate Director of Prospect Development, the Manager serves as an essential connective partner across Resource Development and Growth (RDG), working closely with frontline fundraisers, comprehensive campaign leadership, donor engagement and stewardship teams, development operations, and executive stakeholders. This role ensures that prospect intelligence is translated into clear, actionable insights that support cultivation strategies, campaign planning, executive outreach, and portfolio management. The Manager partners directly with gift officers to inform strategy throughout the donor lifecycle and plays a key role in maintaining a robust, well-qualified prospect pool across giving levels. By ensuring data accuracy, timely research delivery, and strong collaboration across teams, this role supports a cohesive donor journey—from identification and qualification through engagement and investment—and contributes to a best-in-class philanthropic experience for donors. The position works closely with senior leadership on prospect research of strategic value to the organization and supports data-driven decision-making that advances pipeline development and long-term fundraising outcomes. This position is preferably based in Washington D.C.; but could be fully remote for the right candidate. The position offers a salary range of $71k-$79k. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, internal equity, and geographical location. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Execute prospect research work at Share Our Strength. Collect, synthesize and analyze detailed fundraising information relating to current and prospective donors’ capacity, affinity and inclination to give to Share Our Strength. Leverage this information in partnership with the rest of the RDG team to build a deep understanding of prospects, to inform donor strategy as well as to help diagnose portfolio health & prioritization for Gift Officers. Implement wealth screening and validation on current individual donor pool to identify major funders Execute the prospecting work at Share Our Strength. The manager will methodically identify new prospects for the organization including implementing prospecting strategies in partnership with gift officers to identify donors and prospects for qualification through various open-source resources and Identification methods and other strategies. Partner with individual giving, major gifts and corporate partnerships team to serve as a thought partner and resource for developing cultivation and solicitation plans as well as how to prioritize prospects. Maintain close, ongoing working partnerships with front-line Gift Officers. Lead ad-hoc check-ins with gift officers as needed. Lead on ensuring prospect research as well as other strategic and pertinent donor or prospect information are being updated and maintained in the CRM by reinforcing moves management best practices. Serve as a champion of and resource for the moves management system, driving the gift officers and their support staff to continually enter all relevant gift officer activity (past and planned) into the Development database. Implement Prospect Research & Moves Management training and develop best practice materials to ensure standardized efforts across the organization and among Gift Officers. Provide expertise and guidance to development staff to maintain guidelines for moves management integration in the database. Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to be a diverse and inclusive organization, and ensuring this value is embedded in the organization and throughout our work QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. 4-6 years of related prospect development and research experience. High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and CRM database required; Raiser’s Edge or RE NXT preferred. Demonstrated experience with tools such as ResearchPoint, iWave PRO, DonorSearch RelSci, Lexis Nexis for Development Professionals, Foundation Center Directory, and WealthX Working knowledge of and compliance with industry best practices, including a strong commitment to donor privacy; exercise discretion and uphold confidentiality. Support processes to identify and recommend prospects for assignment, using various tools to determine assignment, including: trigger scans, review of recent research, modeling results, data analysis, review of donors who are upgrading/downgrading their giving. Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence. Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects in a fluid environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to high-level audiences. Interest in anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently and efficiently.
