The Manager, Global Strategic Research & Financial Validation is a key member of the Px Strategy organization responsible for supporting market intelligence, strategic opportunity assessments, and financial analyses that drive business decisions and growth. This individual owns the financial-validation and strategic-research methodology for the Px Strategy organization and is accountable for the analytical rigor and integrity of opportunity assessments that inform enterprise investment decisions.
Working closely with Business Development, Upstream Marketing, Commercial, Finance, R&D, Regulatory, and regional business leaders, this role leads the analytical evaluation of strategic growth opportunities by integrating market research, competitive intelligence, financial modeling, and commercial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations.
The position performs research and financial analyses of all concurrent Px strategic initiatives, ensuring leadership has accurate, timely, and data-driven insights to prioritize investments and make informed business decisions.
This individual will establish and own the standardized financial, market-sizing, and competitive-assessment methodologies that serve as the single source of truth for strategic decision making, ensuring leadership has accurate, timely, and data-driven insights to prioritize investments and make informed business decisions.
Key Accountabilities:
Financial Analysis & Business Case Development
- Own the financial-modeling framework and build the models used to evaluate all strategic opportunities
- Lead the financial due-diligence analysis for mergers and acquisition opportunities, partnerships, and licensing
- Develop commercial forecast models by leveraging key strategic assumptions and statistical modeling capabilities
- Perform sensitivity analyses to evaluate upside, downside, and risk scenarios.
- Ensure changes in forecasts, market conditions, or company strategic timelines are reflected in master documents.
- Own the integrity and defensibility of the financial and market assumptions presented to executive leadership for investment decisions.
Strategic Opportunity Assessment
- Run market research studies for current and future Px opportunities, including business development, acquisitions, licensing opportunities, strategic partnerships, geographic expansion, new products, and new indications.
- Develop comprehensive opportunity assessment documents including market attractiveness, competitive landscape, customer needs, reimbursement environment, adoption potential, and commercial viability.
- Manage market research projects on a day-to-day basis to assess market opportunities, including researching industry databases, published literature, managing customer interviews, and following Key Opinion Leader (KOL) insights.
- Perform strategic metric assessments including Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Available Market (SAM), growth rates (e.g., Net Present Value modeling), market trends, and future opportunities.
- Build slides to capture recommendations and market opportunity stories
Strategic Analytics
- Translate complex datasets into meaningful business insights that support executive decision making.
- Create and manage a prioritization model that assesses quantitative opportunities compared to one another
- Define and own the repeatable analytical frameworks used across the portfolio
- Perform analysis supporting executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
Portfolio Management Support
- Own the coordination of key stakeholders for projects and opportunities.
- Develop standardized templates and scorecards for evaluating strategic projects.
- Track project assumptions, milestones, and financial performance against business cases.
- Monthly management of Px Strategy Budget
- Manage market research and data internally and externally
Data Quality & Knowledge Management
- Set and govern the standardized methodologies for market sizing, financial modeling, and strategic assessment
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all analyses.
- Identify data gaps and recommend improvements to internal data sources and processes.
Position Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, Life Sciences, Business Analytics, Data Science, Marketing, or a related field.
- MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, market research, corporate development, business analytics, commercial strategy, or financial analysis.
- Experience evaluating new products, acquisitions, partnerships, licensing opportunities, or commercialization strategies strongly preferred.
- Experience within medical devices, diagnostics, life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals preferred.
- Demonstrated experience conducting market sizing, competitive intelligence, and financial modeling.
- Experience supporting executive leadership with strategic recommendations.
- Experience managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
- Experience navigating and owning cross-functional collaboration
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (financial modeling and scenario analysis)
- PowerPoint (executive presentations and using plugins such as think-cell)
- Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization platforms
- Market research databases (IQVIA, Medscout, etc.)
- CRM and commercial data systems
- Strong quantitative and statistical analysis capabilities
- Strong Project Management skills
