Inside the Role

As the manager of the Software Safety, Quality, and Security DTNA team within the MB/QX organization, you will be responsible for the strategy development, implementation, rollout and continuous improvement of preventive software quality, cyber security and functional safety cultures within all phases of the development process. This team will work hand and hand with system and component owners through all phases of the development process ensuring weak points, threats and hazards are identified and the appropriate measures to minimize product risks are implemented and validated. You will closely collaborate with counterparts across the globe refining and implementing global processes for all these disciplines as well as ensuring all related work products represents all brands within the Daimler Truck family. You will bring the ability to lead and influence across organizations and regions to ensure adherence to high quality, functional safety and cyber security principles.

What You Drive at DTNA


  • Active and engaged member of the global Software Safety, Quality and Security organization to minimize product risks.
  • Implementation and rollout of SQS within the NAFTA region ensuring all future development adheres to these global principles and processes.
  • Global lead for processes and work products to be implemented across the globe, working closely with the other teams in SQS ensuring these work product are consistent and of the highest quality.
  • Develop and lead local software quality engineers, cyber security architects and functional safety engineers through the creation of a culture that prioritizes individual development and high quality standards for all work products
  • Work closely with commercial truck system and component owners throughout the development cycle to implement and validate safety goals and security measures according to established global processes.
  • Developing, collecting, and monitoring quality requirements, quality KPIs, and status reports for in-house software development
  • Strengthening collaboration among Quality Management, Development, Procurement, and Supplier Management

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field with 8 years of commercial vehicle experience, is required
  • Five years of experience working in either the quality, functional safety and/or cyber security disciplines
  • Expert knowledge of the principles associated with ISO standards 26262 (Functional Safety) and 21434 (Cyber Security)
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial vehicle systems
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20% of the time.
  • Prior experience building and leading a high performance team, including project teams
  • An attached resume is required

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Experience in leading electrical and electronics projects for commercial vehicle electrical architectures.
  • Experience managing global projects and teams
  • A global network across mechatronic development and/or quality
  • Product knowledge of Daimler Trucks
  • Strong evidence of analytical skills and innovation.
  • Experience in system analysis and evaluation.
  • Demonstration of critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A confident manner in a global environment.

  • Hold a valid existing Visa (L1A, L1B, L2, TN, H1B, H4 EAD, OPT EAD, CPT)
  • Daimler Truck North America employees working under an existing U.S. Daimler Truck North America Visa
  • Those eligible for a TN Visa (Canadian or Mexican National working in an Engineering, Accounting or Scientific Technologist capacity with an aligning degree)
  • Those eligible for an L-1 (inter-company) Daimler Truck visa under the Corporate Blanket L-1 program would require at least one-year of qualifying experience in the last three years
