Is this job info correct?

WHY OCEAN ECOLOGY? We are a leading marine environmental consultancy providing trusted survey, technical and advisory services to organisations shaping and governing the global blue economy. We are part of DNV, a global assurance and risk management company and a leading classification society to the maritime industry, enabling us to extend our reach, capability and client base across the UK and internationally. Ocean Ecology sits within DNV’s Life Sciences business area, bringing together expertise across aquaculture and ocean health, healthcare, and medical technologies into a focused global platform. Within this, we play a key role in delivering independent environmental science and assurance across marine and coastal environments. Our work is aligned with DNV’s purpose — to safeguard life, property, and the environment — providing trusted marine environmental services for responsible development and governance. MARINE FIELD SCIENTIST We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Marine Field Scientist to support the delivery of marine environmental surveys throughout the UK and overseas. The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation, mobilisation, execution, and reporting of marine surveys supporting offshore renewable energy, infrastructure, environmental monitoring, research, and marine licensing projects. The role offers the opportunity to work in a variety of offshore and coastal environments while contributing to the collection of high-quality environmental data. This role will involve regular survey work away from home in coastal and offshore environments around the UK and overseas. Deployments may range from a few days to several weeks at a time and may involve working offshore for over 100 days per year. Mobilisation may occasionally be required at short notice from locations across the UK or via a designated airport. Key Responsibilities: • Complete survey documentation and support Project Managers and the wider Survey Team with survey preparation and delivery activities. • Prepare survey equipment, consumables, and documentation for field operations. • Undertake nearshore, coastal, and offshore marine environmental surveys throughout the UK and overseas. • Operate and support the maintenance, calibration, and general upkeep of survey equipment, including underwater camera systems, benthic sampling equipment, positioning systems, and water quality profilers. • Report equipment defects, non-conformities, and opportunities for continuous improvement. • Ensure the safe collection, handling, storage, and return of environmental samples and survey data. • Undertake seabed imagery review and analysis. WHY APPLY? This role will provide unique opportunities to work in and help shape a growing and dynamic organisation alongside a team of passionate marine scientists. We offer industry competitive salaries commensurate with experience, with associated benefits including private health options, extensive training opportunities and a flexible working policy. DNV is an Equal Opportunity Employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to gender, religion, race, national or ethnic origin, cultural background, social group, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age or political opinion. Diversity is fundamental to our culture and we invite you to be part of this diversity. Essential Requirements: Degree in Marine Biology, Marine Science, Oceanography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Valid offshore safety certification (e.g. STCW, BOSIET, or GWO). Valid offshore medical certification. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong organisational and communication skills. Ability to work effectively within a team and in offshore environments. A proactive, adaptable, and conscientious approach to work. Willingness to travel and work away from home for extended periods. Desirable Requirements: Marine Mammal Observer (MMO) and/or Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) certification. Experience undertaking marine environmental surveys. Experience operating benthic sampling and underwater imaging systems. Familiarity with GIS software and thematic mapping. Experience of seabed imagery analysis. WORKING ARRANGEMENTS The successful candidate will preferably be based at our Gloucester office; however, hybrid and remote working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate. Apply now! Application deadline: 10.08.26 *Please note we may close this position earlier in case of finding successful candidates. Security and compliance with statutory requirements in the countries in which we operate is essential for DNV. Background checks will be conducted on all final candidates as part of the offer process, in accordance with applicable country-specific laws and practices. #LI-Hybrid
