Location: Limerick, Ireland (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to €80,000 + 20% bonus

Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are working with a growing international energy technology business specialising in energy flexibility and demand response solutions. The business helps electricity consumers participate in energy markets, supporting grid stability and the integration of renewable energy.

They are looking to appoint a Market Operations Manager to oversee market participation across Ireland and Northern Ireland, ensuring operational compliance, effective market engagement and the successful onboarding and utilisation of capacity.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in the evolving electricity market, working across market operations, regulatory requirements and commercial strategy within a growing energy business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage market participation activities across the Irish electricity market, ensuring registrations, modifications, testing and regulatory submissions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee compliance with market rules, regulatory requirements, licence obligations and relevant industry codes.
  • Manage capacity-market processes, including capacity contracts, bid preparation and ongoing market obligations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with market operators, transmission and distribution system operators, regulators and other industry stakeholders.
  • Support the onboarding of additional capacity and ensure existing assets are effectively positioned to participate in relevant markets.
  • Monitor market developments, regulatory changes and industry policy, assessing their potential impact on business operations.
  • Analyse market performance and operational data to identify opportunities, risks and improvements.
  • Provide clear analysis, recommendations and concise reporting to senior leadership to support commercial and operational decision-making.
  • Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver market-related projects and operational improvements.

About You

You will have experience within the electricity industry, ideally with a strong understanding of the Irish electricity market and its regulatory framework.

You will be comfortable working across market operations, regulatory requirements and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to manage detailed processes while understanding the wider commercial implications.

You will also bring:

  • Experience working within the electricity, energy trading, power generation, utilities or energy flexibility sectors.
  • Knowledge of Irish electricity-market arrangements, industry regulations and relevant market participants.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A proactive, pragmatic approach, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret market information and communicate meaningful insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics clearly to senior stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

  • Direct experience with Irish capacity-market contracts, auctions or bid preparation.
  • Experience with market registration, qualification, testing and ongoing compliance.
  • Familiarity with SEMO, EirGrid, SONI or other relevant electricity-market organisations.
  • Experience in demand response, demand-side flexibility, ancillary services or grid services.

What's on Offer?

  • Competitive salary and performance-related bonus.
  • Hybrid working arrangement based in Limerick.
  • Healthcare benefits.
  • Pension contributions matched up to 5%.
  • €3,000 annual self-directed training budget.
  • An additional 10 days of training leave.
  • The opportunity to contribute to the development of energy flexibility and the changing electricity market.
