Marketing internships @ Wurth MRO, Safety & Metalworking
15-18 hrs./week
$23.00/hour
If filled in the Chicago area, this role will be fully remote. If filled by an Ohio State University student, some hours will be onsite in Columbus, with the remaining hours remote.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated, analytical, and hands-on Marketing Intern to support eCommerce growth and product merchandising across digital sales channels. This role will focus on helping market excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory, improving product and channel eligibility, and ensuring products are accurately represented and discoverable across our website, Amazon, product data feeds, Google Merchant Center, and other digital marketplaces and advertising channels. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with product data and spreadsheets, and interested in gaining practical experience in digital commerce, merchandising, and performance marketing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the marketing and sell-through of excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory through targeted digital campaigns, promotional merchandising, and channel-specific product opportunities.
• Review product assortments to identify items that are not currently enabled for digital channels and help determine and document channel eligibility requirements.
• Assist with product setup, merchandising, and optimization across NorthernSafety.com/Würth digital properties, Amazon, product data feeds, Google Merchant Center, and other marketplaces and shopping channels.
• Audit product feeds and channel listings for errors, disapprovals, missing attributes, image or content gaps, pricing issues, and other factors that prevent products from being published or discoverable.
• Work with product, eCommerce, marketing, and data teams to resolve eligibility and content issues and increase the number of products available for online sale.
• Help improve digital merchandising by reviewing product titles, descriptions, categories, attributes, images, keywords, and related content for accuracy, consistency, and search visibility.
• Build and maintain tracking files that show product eligibility, channel status, feed errors, E&O activation, and merchandising progress.
• Support promotional campaigns for E&O and priority products across email, paid media, onsite merchandising, marketplaces, and sales enablement materials.
• Monitor product and campaign performance, including traffic, conversion, sales, sell-through, and channel activation, and summarize opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct competitive and marketplace research to identify merchandising, pricing, assortment, and promotional opportunities.
• Assist with special eCommerce, digital merchandising, product data, and marketing projects as needed.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, eCommerce, Business, Analytics, Communications, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with large product lists, spreadsheets, and structured data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with formulas, filtering, lookups, and basic data analysis is preferred.
• Interest in eCommerce, digital merchandising, marketplaces, product feeds, and performance marketing.
• Basic understanding of product content, digital marketing, search, or online shopping experiences preferred.
• Experience with or exposure to platforms such as Amazon Seller Central/Vendor Central, Google Merchant Center, product feed management tools, PIM systems, or eCommerce platforms is a plus but not required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to identify issues and clearly document findings.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Curious, proactive, and willing to investigate why a product is not eligible, visible, or performing and help drive the issue toward resolution.
