POSITION OVERVIEW
Ever wonder how someone goes from searching for a financial advisor to sitting across the table from one? That’s the work of our Organic Growth team. Our paid Summer Internship Program puts you inside the marketing and business development side of an independent wealth management firm, where you’ll see how we create interest, earn the trust of people looking for financial advice, and turn that interest into lasting client relationships.
You’ll learn how we get to know our prospects and clients: who they are, what they’re looking for, and what brings them to us. You’ll see how marketing and business development shape the client experience from the very first touchpoint, and how we use what we learn to keep improving it.
We think the best way to learn is by doing. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals on real projects and leave the summer with practical marketing skills, a bigger network, and a clearer sense of where your career could go.
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Perigon Wealth Management is an independent RIA founded and led by lifelong advisors. With approximately $12.2 billion in AUM, we serve clients nationwide by combining the depth of a larger firm with the feel of a boutique, while supporting advisors who want to grow without giving up independence.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Duration: 10 weeks starting June 7th, 2027
Compensation: Paid
Schedule: Up to 30 Hours per Week
Location: Remote
EXPERIENCE
- Comprehensive Onboarding:
Your first weeks are about understanding how Perigon works: our mission, our values, and what it means to put clients first. You’ll see how the pieces of a wealth management firm fit together and where each team shows up in a client’s experience.
- Department Rotations:
A wealth management firm is more than its advisors. You’ll spend time with the teams that keep everything running: Financial Planning, Investment Research, Client Services, Operations, Compliance, People & Culture, and Marketing & Business Development.
· Marketing Projects:
Get hands-on with the work behind how an independent RIA tells its story. Depending on the summer’s priorities, you may help with social media and content, market and audience research, email and digital campaigns, event support, and internal and external communications. You’ll also dig into marketing trends across wealth management. Along the way, you’ll see how a firm builds its brand, connects with clients and prospects, and supports its growth.
- Capstone Project:
Put your skills into action by completing a meaningful capstone project over the final 8 weeks. You’ll research a business opportunity or challenge, develop thoughtful recommendations, and present your findings to firm leadership—giving you experience that mirrors the work of professionals in the industry.
- Mentorship & Networking:
Some of the most useful things you’ll learn this summer won’t come from a project. You’ll build relationships with mentors and people at every level of Perigon, ask your questions, and hear about the different paths that brought them here.
We’re looking for more than a strong resume—we’re looking for people who are curious, driven, collaborative, and ready to make an impact. The best Perigon interns bring a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and are willing to jump in, ask questions, and take ownership. You should be excited to learn how a business works from the inside out and comfortable stepping outside your comfort zone.
Currently enrolled in a college or university (Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Business, Advertising, Public Relations, Psychology, Sociology, English, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or related majors preferred)
Targeting rising seniors, but must be a junior, senior, or postgraduate
GPA Requirement: 3.0
Curiosity about the human side of marketing: how people come to trust a brand, what actually moves someone to make a decision, and how stories get told online and offline
Interest in finance or services marketing is a plus, but no wealth management background is required
A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude—willing to jump in, take initiative, and help wherever needed
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with an interest in client engagement and collaborating with others
Team-oriented approach—you collaborate generously and are willing to roll up your sleeves to support the broader team
Professionalism and adaptability - bring energy, maturity, and a positive attitude to a changing environment
Ownership and follow-through - you can take a project from an assignment through completion
Curiosity and coachability, you ask thoughtful questions, seek feedback, and are eager to learn
