Volunteer Marketing & Communications Team Member

oikos Consulting

Location: Hybrid / Mostly Remote

Time commitment: Approx. 3–5 hours per week

Duration: 3, 6 or 12 months

Position: Volunteer / Unpaid

About the role

Do you enjoy creating content, writing and sharing inspiring stories about sustainability?

oikos Consulting is looking for a Volunteer Marketing & Communications Team Member to support our communications and help us make our projects, ideas and impact visible.

You’ll join our Marketing Team and gain hands-on experience across social media, newsletters, content creation and event communications, while having the freedom to contribute your own ideas and creative formats.

What you’ll do

Social Media & Content Creation

Create content primarily for LinkedIn and Instagram, including static posts, Reels and other short-form formats. Depending on our content calendar, you can generally expect to work on new social media content on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

You’ll also help write captions and short copy, adapt content to different platforms and contribute ideas for new formats and campaigns.

Monthly Newsletter

Help prepare our monthly newsletter, including researching and curating interesting sustainability-related news, articles and positive developments.

You’ll also contribute to recurring formats such as Book of the Month, Song of the Month, sustainability highlights and other recommendations.

Event Coverage

When possible, join selected oikos Consulting events and help capture what’s happening through photos and short-form video content that can later be shared across our channels.

Team Collaboration

You’ll join a weekly Marketing Team meeting as well as a weekly broader team meeting, allowing you to stay connected with other areas of oikos Consulting and coordinate upcoming communications.

You might be a great fit if you’re…

Creative & curious. You enjoy coming up with ideas, experimenting with content and trying new formats.

A natural communicator. You enjoy writing and finding accessible ways to turn ideas into engaging stories.

Sustainability-minded. You’re interested in sustainability, innovation and positive impact.

Reliable and independent. You’re comfortable taking ownership of agreed tasks and working independently between team meetings.

No marketing experience? No problem.

Previous professional marketing experience is not required.

Experience with Canva, social media management, writing, photography or basic video editing is a plus, but we’re primarily looking for someone who is motivated to learn and contribute.

What you’ll get

This is an unpaid volunteer position, but it offers the opportunity to gain practical experience across marketing and communications while contributing to sustainability-focused projects.

You’ll have the chance to build experience in social media, content creation, newsletters and event communications, develop work for your portfolio, experiment with your own creative ideas, and collaborate with a motivated team.

Commitment

We expect an average commitment of approximately 3–5 hours per week. Some weeks may be quieter, while additional involvement may be useful around events.

You can join us for 3, 6 or 12 months, depending on your availability. We ask for a minimum commitment of three months so that you have enough time to become part of the team and take ownership of recurring content.

The role is hybrid but predominantly remote.

How to apply

Send us a short introduction telling us:

  • who you are and what you’re currently doing;
  • why you’d like to join oikos Consulting;
  • what interests you about marketing, communications and/or sustainability; and
  • any relevant experience or skills you’d like us to know about.

You’re welcome to include your CV or LinkedIn profile and examples of previous creative work, but a portfolio is not required.
