Overview

Senior Manager – Marketing, Editage Korea (B2C)

Location: Seoul, South Korea (Hybrid working)

CACTUS is a remote-first organization and we embrace an accelerate from anywhere culture. You may be required to travel to our Seoul office based on business requirements or for company/team events.

About Editage

Editage is the flagship brand of Cactus Communications. For over 24 years, we have helped researchers get published through editing, translation, publication support services, and, more recently, AI-powered tools such as Paperpal.

Korea is one of our key retail markets. As AI changes how researchers write, edit, and publish their papers, we are rethinking our services and products, customer funnel, and marketing approach. We are looking for someone who can lead that transformation for Editage in Korea.

The Role

We are looking for a Marketing Manager to lead Editage’s B2C business in Korea end to end, from bringing in new customers to engaging and retaining the ones we already have. This is a player-coach role. You will set the direction and lead a 2–3 member team, but you’ll also be expected to stay hands-on and get things done yourself.

You will work with cross-functional teams in Korea, including Customer Service, Finance and HR, as well as India based teams at Head Office across Product, Digital Marketing, Brand, and Lifecycle Marketing to deliver on the business goals. You will be the senior marketing person on the ground in Korea, so we expect you to be comfortable making decisions and taking ownership.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the Korea B2C business strategy and marketing plan end to end, with accountability for revenue growth, customer acquisition, repeat purchase, and retention.
  • Translate business goals into clear Korea-specific priorities, initiatives, budgets, and execution plans.
  • Lead local execution across field marketing, brand, partnerships, events, PR, and revenue growth initiatives, with a strong focus on business impact.
  • Identify new customer segments, propositions, and market opportunities using customer, market, and competitor insights to drive growth.
  • Partner with central teams in India across Performance Marketing, Organic & AI Search, CRM, Product, and other specialist functions, providing Korea-specific direction and inputs to ensure these teams deliver against overall B2C goals.
  • Develop initiatives to improve customer engagement, repeat purchase, loyalty, and retention, using customer and behavioural insights to identify growth opportunities.
  • Manage and coach a 2–3member local marketing team, setting clear priorities, ownership, and a strong execution cadence.
  • Manage relationships with local agencies and partners, particularly across PR, events, and field marketing.
  • Represent Korea in regional and global planning, ensuring global strategies are adapted effectively to the Korean market.
  • Own the Korea B2C marketing budget and performance, making investment decisions based on business priorities, performance, and growth potential.

Qualifications And Prerequisites

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in B2C marketing, including a few years of owning both strategy and execution.
  • Experience managing a team, ideally in a player-coach setup.
  • Native-level Korean and strong working proficiency in English, as you will work closely with an India-based leadership team.
  • B2C, EdTech, or Professional Services experience is relevant. Experience in academic/research services is a nice-to-have.
  • Hands-on and comfortable working with ambiguity. The Editage business is actively changing shape, so this is a build role rather than a maintain-what’s-there role.

Application Process

Before applying, please ensure you meet the role requirements listed above and have legal authorization to work in the country where this role is advertised. Our selection process typically involves an initial screening by a recruiter, a technical assessment, and two to three interview rounds.

For this role,

  • Phone screening -> Assessment -> 1. Hiring manager interview -> 2. KR Maketing manager interview -> 3. Korea business leader interview -> 4. HR interview -> Offer

Equal Opportunity

Our hiring practices reflect our commitment to providing equal opportunities and creating an environment where everyone can thrive, develop, and succeed. We celebrate the uniqueness of our team members and prohibit discrimination of any kind, based on race, color, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

Accelerating from Anywhere

As a remote-first organization, these are essential attributes we look for in all our candidates.

  • Taking ownership of your work with minimal supervision, showing strong ability to organize, prioritize and deliver results independently.
  • Documenting work that brings everyone on the same page.
  • Maturity to choose between synchronous and asynchronous collaboration.
  • Effectively collaborating with colleagues across different time zones by setting dedicated hours for collaboration and keeping team members updated through your MS Teams status.
