We're looking for an experienced Platform Owner to join our Marketing Technology team on a permanent basis. You'll play a key role in owning and evolving a critical marketing technology platform, providing subject matter expertise, operational leadership and strategic direction to ensure the platform delivers value for colleagues, customers and the wider business.

You will be responsible for defining and delivering the platform roadmap, ensuring it aligns with the wider marketing technology strategy and business objectives. Working closely with teams across Marketing, Data, Technology, Digital and Customer Experience, you'll help prioritise enhancements, drive platform improvements and ensure effective integration with core systems and processes.

The role combines platform ownership, continuous improvement and change delivery. You'll ensure the platform operates effectively, remains compliant with relevant governance requirements and evolves to meet changing business needs. You'll also support the successful implementation and adoption of new capabilities, providing guidance, training and support to colleagues while promoting best practice across the organisation.

As the platform expert, you'll proactively identify opportunities to optimise performance, increase adoption and maximise value. You'll monitor platform health, resolve issues, define meaningful KPIs and work collaboratively with stakeholders to improve processes, controls and customer communications.

We're looking for someone with strong experience managing marketing technology platforms, a good understanding of platform architecture and software delivery practices, and a proven ability to translate business requirements into practical solutions. You'll be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders, influencing decisions and communicating complex concepts clearly, including at senior leadership level.

Customer outcomes remain at the heart of everything we do. You'll bring expertise in customer communications, data-driven marketing technologies and relevant regulatory requirements, including GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), helping ensure our platforms support effective, compliant and customer-focused engagement.

This role does not have formal line management responsibility but does provide leadership within a matrix environment, supporting colleagues, driving collaboration and helping teams successfully adopt new capabilities and ways of working.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

As a Platform Owner, you'll be responsible for the strategic direction, performance and continuous improvement of a key Marketing Technology platform. You'll work closely with stakeholders across Marketing, Digital, Technology and Data teams to ensure the platform delivers against business objectives, supports customer engagement and provides a seamless experience for both colleagues and customers.

You'll define and manage the platform roadmap, balancing business priorities, technical requirements and user needs. Working with Product Owners, delivery teams and third-party partners, you'll prioritise enhancements, manage dependencies and ensure new capabilities are delivered effectively and provide measurable value to the organisation.

A key part of the role will be acting as the subject matter expert for the platform. You'll provide expert guidance on platform capabilities, best practices and opportunities for optimisation, helping stakeholders make informed decisions and maximise the value of the technology investment.

You'll collaborate with a wide range of teams to gather requirements, understand business challenges and translate these into practical solutions. Through strong stakeholder management and effective communication, you'll ensure alignment between business goals, customer needs and platform development priorities.

You'll also be responsible for monitoring platform performance, adoption and effectiveness. Using data, insights and user feedback, you'll identify opportunities for improvement, drive continuous optimisation and measure the impact of enhancements against agreed success measures.

Working closely with Technology teams and suppliers, you'll help ensure the platform remains secure, stable, compliant and fit for purpose. You'll support the successful implementation of new functionality, manage risks and issues, and ensure appropriate governance and controls are maintained.

Through proactive leadership, collaboration and continuous improvement, you'll play a key role in evolving Nationwide's Marketing Technology capability, enabling more effective customer communications, improved colleague experiences and better business outcomes.
