Job Description:

We are hiring a full-time MCA Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of a US-based Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) company. This role is focused on full-cycle accounting, including bookkeeping, journal entries, bank reconciliations, merchant payment tracking, and month-end closing. You’ll work directly under the CFO, taking ownership of the company's accounting records and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, understands receivables and financing transactions, and is extremely detail-oriented. Experience in MCA, alternative lending, or commercial finance is strongly preferred. Full-time. Fully remote. Must be ENGLISH-SPEAKING.

Hours: 9am–5pm EST.

Salary: $2,700/mo

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily bookkeeping and accounting operations using QuickBooks Online, ensuring all financial records are accurate and up to date.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for funding transactions, merchant payments, fees, commissions, expenses, and other financial activities.
  • Complete the monthly accounting close process, including adjusting journal entries, reclassifications, and profit recognition for individual deals.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and fee income accounts.
  • Monitor incoming merchant payments, deposits, and ACH transactions, ensuring each payment is correctly identified and allocated to the appropriate merchant account.
  • Reconcile merchant balances, purchased receivables, and MCA portfolio balances between QuickBooks and the company's Salesforce CRM.
  • Accurately allocate merchant payments, fees, and management fees across syndicators.
  • Maintain accurate records of outstanding receivables, funding transactions, and merchant payment activity.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and support the CFO with financial reporting.
  • Handle UCC lien filing administration and tracking, following established procedures and filing requirements. Training can be provided.
  • Monitor accounting activity across QuickBooks and Salesforce, identifying discrepancies and ensuring financial information remains consistent between systems.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation for all transactions.
  • Proactively identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, escalating issues to the CFO when necessary.
  • Take ownership of the accounting process, ensuring daily and monthly entries are completed accurately and on time.

Key Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations, with hands-on experience managing full-cycle accounting.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Experience in Merchant Cash Advance (MCA), alternative lending, factoring, commercial finance, or a similar financing environment strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Strong understanding of receivables, payment allocation, and financial transactions.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, including Profit & Loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including working with large datasets and reconciling financial information.
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with the ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Proactive and independent, with the ability to take full ownership of accounting responsibilities without constant supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to meet strict accounting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Comfortable handling confidential financial information with discretion.
  • Must own and be able to use a working computer with high-speed internet.
  • MUST BE ENGLISH-SPEAKING

Nice to Have:

  • Direct experience handling accounting for a Merchant Cash Advance company.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems used in lending and financial services.
  • Experience reconciling MCA portfolios, purchased receivables, and syndicator allocations.
  • Previous experience filing and tracking UCC liens.
  • Experience working directly under a CFO or senior finance executive.
