Background:
The Liquid Handling Team in Rotkreuz is the team of experts for liquid handling solutions for our diagnostic instruments. In cooperation with the various project and product teams, we develop, maintain and test the fluid systems, pipetting and dosing solutions for our diagnostic instruments, including mechanics, electronics, real-time software and algorithms for monitoring.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer - Expert in Fluid Dynamics, you will help to assess and develop new technologies in the field of liquid handling for our IVD product development. You will support the development of cost-efficient and reliable fluidic concepts that meet system needs.
With your expertise in fluid dynamics including experimental fluid dynamics and your ability to capture the overall system context, you will make a significant contribution to the success of our future diagnostics portfolio.
The perfect candidate is a qualified individual with a background in mechanical engineering and a specialization in fluid dynamics. The ideal person has 1 to 3 years of experience with CFD software and simulation techniques (including grid generation, simulation and post-processing). In addition, strong analytical skills, a structured way of working to solve complex problems and enthusiasm for experimental fluid dynamics are required. Practical knowledge in the development of test setups as well as programming skills in Python and C# round off the profile.
General information:
- Start date: asap
- Latest possible start date: 04.01.2027
- Workload: 80-100%
- Home office: Yes (max. 1 day per week)
- Travel: No
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Concept assessment and parameter determination: You will analyse and assess new technologies and test them. Using your fluidic and physical expertise, you will define and verify various parameter settings so that the pipetting performance of the specific application can be achieved.
- Liquid Handling Solution Development: You will support the technical implementation of liquid handling solutions in the context of IVD product development. Using your fluidic and physical expertise and computational fluid dynamics, you will support the design engineers in the development of components so that the design is optimized from a fluid engineering perspective. You verify your simulations by means of experiments.
- Feasibility studies: You initiate, lead and conduct feasibility studies in the field of liquid handling in order to meet technical requirements and minimize risks.
- Test stand development: You define the required test benches, which are required for the feasibility studies and parameter determinations. In cooperation with the mechanics and electronics design engineers and the software engineers, you will commission the test benches and program the required software sequences.
