Mechanical Engineer

Role and responsibilities
In this role, you will take a key position in developing, maintaining and supporting DeLaval’s existing Robotic Milking systems. You will contribute to milking solutions used on farms across more than 90 countries.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from concept generation to industrialization and product support.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing mechanical systems and components for robotic milking applications.
  • Creating 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Performing engineering calculations, simulations, and tolerance analyses.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues in software, electronics, systems engineering, testing, manufacturing, and sourcing.
  • Driving product improvements based on customer feedback and field data.
  • Supporting prototype builds, laboratory testing, and field validation.
  • Ensuring designs meet quality, cost, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.


Qualifications
To be successful in this role we believe that you have:

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in product development and mechanical design.
  • Strong CAD skills, preferably in Creo or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Understanding of manufacturing methods such as sheet metal, injection molding, machined parts, and welded assemblies.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
  • Strong communication skills in English.
