Job Description

Position Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will design and develop precision mechanical systems for our advanced Desktop Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) products.

You will translate system requirements into robust, precise, and manufacturable mechanical solutions, balancing demanding requirements for stability, thermal performance, reliability, serviceability, and cost.

Working closely with Systems Engineering, Electronics, Software, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, and Service, you will contribute throughout the product lifecycle—from early concepts and detailed design through verification, manufacturing introduction, and product improvements.

This role is part of the expansion of our Brno Development Center, working closely with our Innovation and Architecture team in Eindhoven.

Our Technology

Our Desktop SEM business develops advanced scanning electron microscopes used worldwide in materials science, manufacturing, research, and quality assurance. Our products combine:

  • Electron optics and vacuum technology
  • Precision mechanics and mechatronics
  • Embedded electronics
  • Scientific software and user interfaces
  • Image acquisition and analysis
  • Manufacturing automation and system integration

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop precision mechanical assemblies and subsystems for Desktop SEM products.
  • Translate system requirements into practical and manufacturable mechanical solutions.
  • Develop 3D designs, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using Siemens NX.
  • Apply precision engineering principles including tolerance analysis and GD&T.
  • Consider structural, vibration, thermal, and vacuum requirements throughout the design process.
  • Perform engineering trade-off studies and contribute to mechanical architecture decisions.
  • Support mechanical verification, validation, system integration, and product release.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical investigations, and engineering changes.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing on component development and qualification.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing transfer.
  • Contribute to root-cause investigations and product improvements.
  • Share technical knowledge and contribute to mechanical engineering best practices within the Brno Development Center.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design within high-tech product development.
  • Strong experience designing precision mechanical systems and assemblies.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX CAD.
  • Experience with tolerance analysis and GD&T.
  • Understanding of structural, vibration, and thermal behavior of mechanical systems.
  • Experience with vacuum systems, precision mechatronics, or similar high-precision technologies.
  • Experience working with manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Nice to Have

Experience with SEM, microscopy or other scientific instrumentation, multidisciplinary system integration, mechanical verification and validation, NPI, PLM, quality processes, or structured root-cause analysis would be an advantage.

Why Join Us?

You will work on high-precision mechanical systems where micrometers, stability, vibration, thermal behavior, and vacuum performance matter.

You will see your designs become part of sophisticated scientific instruments combining mechanics, physics, electronics, and software while collaborating with specialists across our Brno and Eindhoven teams.

What We Offer

  • Flexible working hours to help you balance work and personal life.
  • 25 days of vacation plus 5 sick days per year.
  • Financial benefits, including an annual bonus, pension contribution, and access to life and health insurance at preferential rates.
  • Discounted mobile plans for you and your family members.
  • Free MultiSport card.
  • Meal allowance and company canteen, with free fruit or vegetables every day.
  • Modern working environment with relaxation zones, an on-site gym, outdoor sports area, and massages in the building.
  • Open and friendly company culture, including our company rock band, sports teams, and other activities.
  • Hackerspace equipped with a VR headset, recording studio for videos, music and podcasts, LEGO Mindstorms, 3D printer, Arduino, and much more.
