ActalentservicesThe Mechanical Process Piping Estimator will provide specialized estimating and cost consulting support for heavy mechanical and process piping scopes within high‑tech and semiconductor construction projects. This role focuses on developing accurate budget estimates, quantity takeoffs, and cost analyses for mechanical, process piping, and MEP systems, using Excel, BlueBeam, and 3D modeling tools. The position offers the opportunity to work within an integrated project delivery (IPD) and lean construction environment while contributing to complex commercial and semiconductor projects.
Responsibilities- Develop detailed and accurate budget estimates by performing quantity takeoffs based on plans, specifications, and conceptual information for mechanical, process piping, and MEP scopes.
- Review and interpret project documents to clearly understand and accurately estimate the full scope of assigned work.
- Apply unit costs and productivity rates provided by leadership to prepare comprehensive and consistent estimates.
- Use Excel for pricing, data analysis, and estimate development, and perform takeoffs using BlueBeam or 3D modeling tools.
- Prepare subcontractor analysis sheets for assigned scopes of work, comparing proposals and documenting assumptions and clarifications.
- Develop, maintain, and nurture strong working relationships with subcontractors and clients to support accurate pricing and effective collaboration.
- Evaluate changes in project scope and review subcontractor change order estimates, providing clear, data‑driven recommendations.
- Provide expertise across all phases of construction work related to mechanical, process piping, and MEP systems to support project teams and decision‑making.
- Collaborate closely with project management and other team members to support project budgets, schedules, and cost control efforts.
- Perform other duties reasonably associated with the estimating and cost consulting functions, as well as additional responsibilities assigned by leadership.
- Mechanical process piping or MEP background, preferably within semiconductor or high‑tech construction environments.
- At least 5 years of experience in estimating for high‑tech or commercial construction projects, with a focus on mechanical and process piping systems.
- Proven experience as an estimator, cost consultant, or quantity surveyor in construction, particularly on heavy process piping scopes.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, with advanced skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume commercial construction setting.
- Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs using project plans, specifications, and conceptual information.
- Demonstrated experience supporting project budgets and cost estimation for mechanical and piping systems.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
- Experience working within project management frameworks and supporting project delivery for complex construction projects.
- Experience in semiconductor construction estimating and familiarity with high‑tech facility requirements.
- Knowledge of IPD (Integrated Project Delivery) and lean construction methodology and tools, or strong interest in learning and applying these approaches.
- Familiarity with BlueBeam or 3D modeling tools for takeoffs and scope reviews.
- Knowledge of On Screen Takeoff estimating software is a plus.
- Knowledge of Success Estimating Software is a plus.

- Experience in quantity surveying and cost consulting on large, complex projects.
- Ability to build and maintain long‑term subcontractor and client relationships.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
