PERMANENT AU DAYSHIFT, WFH-PHILIPPINES Job Description: Mechanical & Refrigeration Estimator Company background: HVAC and Refrigeration Equipment Manufacturing Working hours: 9am onwards VA Rate - $11-12 AUD per hour (Negotiable) Target start date: ASAP Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical & Refrigeration Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, material take-offs, and tender submissions for commercial and industrial mechanical and refrigeration projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment, mechanical services, piping, and associated building services. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate estimates that support successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Cost Planning ● Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical and refrigeration projects. ● Perform quantity take-offs from mechanical, refrigeration, HVAC, and plumbing drawings. ● Develop accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost breakdowns. ● Estimate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor costs, and project overheads. ● Prepare competitive tenders, quotations, and bid proposals. Plan Review & Technical Analysis ● Review mechanical, refrigeration, HVAC, and construction drawings and specifications. ● Interpret engineering designs and identify project scope requirements. ● Identify discrepancies, omissions, and potential risks within tender documentation. ● Provide value engineering recommendations to improve project cost efficiency. ● Clarify technical queries with engineers, consultants, and clients. Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination ● Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. ● Evaluate quotations for completeness and competitiveness. ● Build and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships. ● Negotiate pricing and procurement options where appropriate. ● Monitor current material pricing and market trends. Project Support ● Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams during project handover. ● Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control. ● Support procurement by identifying long-lead equipment and materials. ● Provide estimating support for project variations and change orders. Documentation & Reporting ● Prepare tender documentation and submission packages. ● Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information. ● Generate estimate summaries and management reports. ● Ensure all estimating documentation is accurate, complete, and properly archived. Compliance & Quality ● Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, Australian Standards, and applicable building codes. ● Maintain compliance with company estimating procedures and quality standards. ● Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and cost databases. Required Qualifications ● Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. ● Minimum 2 years of experience estimating mechanical, refrigeration, or HVAC projects. ● Strong understanding of commercial refrigeration systems, HVAC installations, chilled water systems, mechanical services, and associated construction practices. ● Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documentation. ● Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. ● Strong communication and negotiation abilities. ● High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications ● Experience estimating commercial refrigeration projects, cold storage facilities, supermarkets, industrial refrigeration plants, or HVAC systems. ● Knowledge of Australian Standards and National Construction Code (NCC). ● Experience with design-and-construct (D&C) and lump sum tendering. ● Understanding of procurement and contract administration. ● Trade background in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning is highly regarded.
