Role Description This is a full-time, remote role for Spanish-English Medical Interpreters providing Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI). Day-to-day responsibilities include accurately interpreting medical encounters between healthcare professionals and patients, ensuring clear, confidential, and culturally sensitive communication in both English and Spanish. The role involves applying medical terminology, maintaining neutrality, and conveying the speaker’s tone and intent without adding, omitting, or altering information. Interpreters will follow established protocols, comply with privacy and data protection standards, and use company platforms and tools to manage calls, video sessions, and documentation. Team members are expected to be available during assigned shifts, participate in ongoing training, and collaborate with supervisors to maintain service quality.
Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation and Interpreting skills, with experience in healthcare or clinical settings.
• Candidates should possess knowledge of Medical Terminology in both English and Spanish to support accurate and effective communication.
• Candidates should possess capabilities in Simultaneous Interpretation for fast-paced or urgent medical interactions.
• Candidates should possess Translation skills for supporting written medical materials when needed.
• Fluent, native-level proficiency in Spanish and English, with excellent listening and speaking abilities.
• Prior experience as a remote interpreter (OPI and/or VRI) and familiarity with using online communication platforms and headsets.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality, HIPAA or similar privacy regulations, and professional ethics in medical settings.
• Strong customer service orientation, emotional resilience, and ability to remain calm and neutral during sensitive conversations.
• Reliable high-speed internet connection, a quiet and secure workspace, and the technical skills to navigate cloud-based systems.
• Relevant certifications in medical interpreting or equivalent training are highly beneficial; prior experience with language service providers is a plus.
