We are seeking a detail-oriented Virtual Med-Legal P&S Report Reviewer to support a physician specializing in California Workers’ Compensation. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing, quality-assuring, and editing Permanent & Stationary (P&S) and supplemental reports to ensure they are complete, internally consistent, accurately documented, and ready for final physician sign-off.
Key Responsibilities:
P&S & Supplemental Report QA (Primary):
- Verify demographics, claim details, dates of injury, and body parts across report sections.
- Cross-check injury history, objective exam findings, diagnoses, and narrative descriptions for internal consistency.
- Review supplemental reports to ensure they address new medical records, questions, or legal issues.
- Identify and flag missing, conflicting, or incomplete report sections prior to finalization.
- Proofread medical terminology, spelling, grammar, and ensure adherence to physician formatting templates.
WC Med-Legal Content Auditing:
- Review core components of P&S reports, including P&S/MMI status, mechanism of injury, accepted vs. disputed body parts, subjective/objective findings, diagnoses, WPI, apportionment, work restrictions, and future medical care.
- Ensure Whole Person Impairment (WPI) and apportionment entries are clearly documented and consistent.
Medical Records Review & Case Prep:
- Prepare case fact sheets prior to upcoming examinations.
- Compare report statements against supporting clinical records (dates, treatment history, diagnostics).
- Track and request missing medical records, maintain report templates/checklists, and document required corrections.
Direct experience reviewing or editing Workers' Compensation med-legal reports (P&S, MMI, or impairment reports from any state).
Strong command of WC terminology, including P&S/MMI, WPI, apportionment, causation, work restrictions, and future medical care.
Working knowledge of the AMA Guides (5th Edition preferred).
Proven track record in clinical documentation review and medical records comparison.
Exceptional written English, medical proofreading skills, attention to detail, and independence.
Please note that this is a full-time contractor position (40 hours per week) with a starting pay rate of $6 per hour depending on skillset and experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm PST.
