Is this job info correct?

Remote Raven is recruiting an experienced Medical Malpractice Paralegal on behalf of an established Arizona litigation firm whose practice includes medical malpractice, birth injury, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death matters. The firm represents individuals and families, and litigates against hospitals, health systems, and insurers. This is a full-time, 100% remote, long-term engagement. The Medical Malpractice Paralegal manages complex cases from intake through resolution: obtaining and organizing medical, billing, and diagnostic records; preparing detailed medical chronologies that identify significant events, treatments, and potential deviations from the standard of care; drafting discovery and litigation documents under attorney supervision; coordinating with medical experts; and tracking the court, discovery, and expert deadlines the case turns on. You will work closely with attorneys, clients, medical experts, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and opposing counsel, and you will join an existing in-house paralegal team rather than working in isolation. Strict confidentiality is required at all times, covering client information, medical records, attorney work product, and privileged communications. Key Responsibilities Case Intake, Investigation & Evaluation Assist attorneys with all phases of medical malpractice litigation, from initial case evaluation through trial and resolution. Assist with new-client intake, case investigation, and preliminary case evaluation. Research and gather information regarding healthcare providers, facilities, procedures, and relevant medical issues. Assist with legal research and factual investigation as directed by attorneys. Medical Records & Chronologies Obtain, organize, review, and summarize medical records, billing records, diagnostic reports, and other healthcare documentation. Prepare detailed medical chronologies and timelines identifying significant events, treatments, diagnoses, procedures, and potential deviations from the standard of care. Coordinate the collection of medical records, employment records, insurance information, photographs, and other evidence. Prepare case summaries, factual chronologies, witness summaries, and litigation-related materials. Discovery & Litigation Documents Draft and prepare correspondence, discovery requests and responses, pleadings, notices, subpoenas, and other litigation documents under attorney supervision. Assist with discovery, including organizing documents, preparing discovery responses, reviewing productions, and tracking deadlines. Maintain organized electronic and physical case files. Experts, Depositions & Trial Preparation Assist attorneys in identifying and coordinating medical experts and other litigation experts. Assist with deposition preparation, including organizing exhibits, medical records, timelines, and witness materials. Assist attorneys in preparing for mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials. Prepare and maintain trial exhibits, exhibit lists, witness lists, deposition materials, and trial binders. Deadlines & Case Management Track court deadlines, discovery deadlines, expert deadlines, deposition dates, hearings, and other important case dates. Enter and maintain accurate case information in the firm’s case-management system. Monitor case expenses, medical liens, settlement documentation, and other financial or administrative matters. Communication & Confidentiality Communicate professionally with clients, medical providers, experts, opposing counsel, insurance representatives, and other parties. Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case-related administrative matters. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client information, medical records, attorney work product, and privileged communications. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. 3+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in personal injury, medical malpractice, or complex civil litigation. Strong understanding of the civil litigation process and case management. Hands-on experience reviewing and organizing large volumes of medical records. Demonstrated ability to create clear, detailed medical chronologies. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities. Strong attention to detail, including the ability to identify inconsistencies or missing information in records. Ability to manage multiple complex cases and competing deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. A private home workspace and a dedicated computer that is not shared with anyone else, with reliable internet and a backup connection. Preferred Qualifications Paralegal certificate, or relevant education in law, legal management, nursing, or a health-related field. Direct medical malpractice, personal injury, or complex civil litigation experience. Medical record review and medical chronology preparation as a primary duty rather than an occasional task. Experience with legal case-management and document-management software. Familiarity with electronic court filing systems and litigation-support technology. Expert witness coordination. Discovery and document production. Deposition, mediation, and trial preparation. Legal research. Tools & Software Legal case-management software (for example Filevine, SmartAdvocate, Litify, Needles, ProLaw, MyCase, or Clio). Document-management systems and electronic court filing platforms. Adobe Acrobat, including OCR of scanned records, Bates numbering, and exhibit assembly. Microsoft Word, including styles, automatic tables of contents, long-document tables, and track changes. Microsoft Excel, including filtering, lookups, and pivot tables for records and billing logs. Microsoft Teams and OneDrive for daily collaboration and file storage. Hubstaff for time tracking during paid working hours. What Makes You a Great Fit You can open a 1,500-page hospital production and know, within the first hour, what is in it and what is missing from it. You notice when a nursing note refers to an event that has no corresponding record in the file, and you say so before anyone asks. You write chronology entries that a reader can trace back to a specific page, because you cite the page. You treat a deadline as something you own, not something the calendar owns. You are comfortable being the only person online for part of your shift, and you finish the shift with the attorney knowing exactly where things stand. You can speak to an injured client or a grieving family with warmth, and still hold the line on what you are not permitted to advise them about. You handle protected health information the way you would want your own handled. Work Environment & Confidentiality This is a professional litigation environment with real deadlines attached to court proceedings, depositions, expert disclosures, mediation, and trial. You will have access to highly confidential client information, medical records, attorney work product, and privileged communications, and you will be expected to follow the firm’s confidentiality, privacy, data-security, and document-handling policies without exception. A private workspace and an unshared work computer are required. What We Offer Up to $8/hour 100% remote work Full-time role We hire for the long haul, so a steady track record of staying and growing always moves you up our list.
