About the Role
Join a healthtech team building a production compiler that turns clinical standards into executable, traceable decision logic. This research-focused role combines rigorous experimentation with production engineering to improve the reliability of clinical AI systems.
What You'll Do
Build a pipeline to parse clinical standards, transform their content, and validate executable modules.
Design and refine a target syntax for representing guideline logic.
Evaluate open and closed models, fine-tuning approaches, and constrained decoding techniques.
Develop benchmarks, metrics, and adversarial cases for source fidelity, logical completeness, and recommendation correctness.
Analyze model failures and turn them into research hypotheses, experiments, and improvements to the production compiler.
Develop deterministic validators using static analysis, constraint solving, or formal methods to identify ambiguity, contradiction, and missing source information.
Collaborate with clinicians and technical teammates to validate clinical logic and system outputs.
What We're Looking For
At least 3 years of research or industry experience, or final-year PhD or postdoctoral experience.
Experience shipping ML or NLP systems to production, in addition to research work.
A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, or a related technical field.
Production-level Python, PyTorch, and Transformers experience, plus experience with LLM evaluation, training, or prompt engineering.
Clear written communication about failed experiments and uncertainty, and a track record of validating model outputs rather than assuming they are correct.
Experience in compilers, program synthesis, formal methods, static analysis, or a regulated or safety-critical domain is valuable.
Knowledge of intermediate representation design, constraint solving, SAT/SMT, or domain-specific languages is a plus.
Comfort collaborating across disciplines, working through ambiguity, and attending in-person offsites several times per year.
Must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $250,000 to $400,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Remote role based in Canada, with candidates in the United States also considered.
