About the Role
Join a clinical AI team building a production compiler that turns healthcare standards into structured, executable decision logic. This research-focused role combines rigorous experimentation with engineering, helping make clinical recommendations traceable, logically complete, and suitable for use in care settings.
What You'll Do
Build pipeline components that parse clinical documents, transform their content, and validate executable modules.
Design and refine a target syntax for representing guideline logic.
Evaluate open and closed models, fine-tuning approaches, and constrained decoding methods.
Develop benchmarks, datasets, metrics, and adversarial cases to assess clinical fidelity and recommendation correctness.
Analyze model failures, form hypotheses, and run experiments that improve the production compiler.
Build deterministic validators using static analysis, constraint solving, or formal methods to surface ambiguity and contradictions.
Collaborate with clinicians and technical leadership to validate system outputs and design decisions.
What We're Looking For
At least 3 years of research or industry experience, or final-year PhD or postdoctoral experience, along with production engineering experience.
A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, or a related technical field.
Experience shipping ML or NLP systems to production, with strong Python, PyTorch, and Transformers skills.
Experience with LLM evaluation, training, or prompt engineering, and a habit of validating model outputs.
Clear written communication about experiments, including failures and uncertainty, and comfort working across disciplines amid ambiguity.
Experience in compilers, program synthesis, formal methods, static analysis, or related areas is valuable. Healthcare or other safety-critical experience, a relevant PhD, and knowledge of IR design, DSLs, SAT/SMT, FHIR, or HL7 v2 are also useful.
Must be authorized to work in Canada or the United States. Periodic in-person offsites are expected.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $250,000 to $400,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Remote, with primary location in Canada. Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada or the United States.
