As one of the lead engineers in the team you will have the ability and power to contribute and influence the highly available/reliable/scalable/secured solution architecture and design in a heavily distributed VDI brokering and inventory management space, partnering with some of the brightest minds in the industry. This position also lends itself to mentoring and shaping junior engineers in the team through technical guidance on design, quality and coding through continuous reviews, discussions and feedbacks. You will also have opportunity to innovate and disrupt the status-quo through your individual contribution and collaborative cross functional partnerships. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work towards completing? As a successful lead engineer you would have accomplished the following by the end of 1st year with the team. You would have interacted with senior architects on the product and participate in the architecture and design of some of the business critical features of the product. You would have hands-on created and delivered highly scalable new features/enhancement in the core VDI brokering area of Horizon Enterprise with exemplary quality. You would have reviewed ~100 code reviews raised by junior/peer engineers of the team and would have gained significant hands-on knowledge on the Horizon Enterprise Connection Server code base. You would have gained good knowledge and be able to guide and contribute in the area of Federated task management, VDI inventory management, High availability et al. You would have participated in test strategy and test plan review on various areas of the product. You would have contributed to team building by participating in hiring interviews. You would have attended multiple KT session and would have delivered a few to learn and also enable your team members. A unique hybrid role that blends software development and Customer engineering Engineered advanced diagnostic tools and automation scripts that significantly minimized overall MTTR (Mean Time to Resolution) Work on Customer reported issues and escalations Owned end-to-end resolution of critical engineering escalations and Customer-reported technical hurdles The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? As a Member of Technical Staff (MTS-3) you would contribute to the d esign, development, and maintenance of key components of the Omnissa Horizon platform. In this role, you will develop scalable and reliable software solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and enhance product performance , security , and maintainability . Ensure that product defects, are not escaped to Customers . You will work closely with senior engineers, product management, and quality engineering teams to deliver high-quality features for enterprise customers. The ideal candidate has approximately 5-8 years of experience in software development, strong proficiency in Java and distributed systems, and a solid understanding of software design principles and cloud technologies. This position offers opportunities to take ownership of features end-to-end, contribute to technical design discussions, and grow technical expertise within a collaborative engineering environment. Expertise in the areas of Java, J2EE, Spring MVC, REST APIs, LDAP, ADLDS, HTTP, SSL, Multi-Threading, Concurrency, Distributed System design, JMS etc is desired. Knowledge of C++ and windows internal is added advantage Complex Escalation Engineering: Owning the deep technical analysis, debugging, and end-to-end resolution of high-severity, customer-reported engineering issues. Architectural & Code Reviews: Reviewing enterprise-scale customer codebases, cloud configurations, and deployment pipelines to optimize system health and resource utilization. Product Engineering Feedback Loop: Collaborating directly with internal Microsoft product and core engineering teams to turn customer telemetry and feature gaps into product updates. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Documentation : Authoring rigorous, comprehensive post-incident reviews and technical whitepapers to prevent recurring issues across the ecosystem. Data-Driven MTTR Reduction: Consistently lowering Mean Time to Resolution metrics through tool optimization and automated root-cause analysis Hands-on experience with AI APIs, LLM frameworks, or AI-assisted development tools, familiarity with prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, or AI application development concepts are desired What is the leadership like for this role?
