About Poshmark Poshmark is the leading fashion marketplace where style comes alive through discovery, self-expression, and human connection. Powered by a vibrant community of 165 million members, Poshmark brings real people and taste to shopping through a social experience shaped by shared discovery. Buying and selling fashion feels simple, joyful, and personal, while every item tells its own story. Poshmark empowers sellers to grow meaningful businesses, keeps fashion in circulation longer, and gives shoppers access to unique and trusted finds, from everyday pieces to one-of-a-kind vintage and luxury. Poshmark's inventory is vast, dynamic, and unlike anything in traditional retail. This role exists to make sense of it and build processes around optimizing it to create intentional demand across the platform, digging in to where supply is constrained or oversaturated, and shaping how we surface the right product to the right buyer at the right moment. You'll operate as the merchant lead across all categories — Women's, Men's, Kids, Luxury, Sneakers, Home, and beyond — developing a platform-wide view of what's selling, what's stalling, and what we're missing. You'll translate that intelligence into action: working with site merchandising, growth, product, and supply teams to drive demand where the inventory exists and identify supply gaps where demand is outpacing listing volume. This is a commercially-minded role that sits at the intersection of data, intuition, and cross-functional influence. You'll manage an assistant merchant and be a key contributor to the broader Merchandising function as it scales. What You Will Do: Own category performance end to end This role sits at the center of two key workstreams: shaping what supply comes onto the platform before demand catches up to it, and deploying the supply we already have against the right seasonal story at the right moment. Categories are built utilizing both levers continuously in response to real time data tracking. Turn market movement into action Track sell-through, trend velocity, search behavior, and category liquidity closely enough to catch what is building and conversely, what is downtrending. Turn that read into merchandising calls and recommendations the rest of the org can act on. Develop an always-on supply demand mindset Break inventory health down by category, brand, and price point to see where supply is too thin to meet demand, and where depth exists but isn't converting. Then work both angles: pull demand levers against the inventory we already hold, and push the supply team to acquire what we don't. This is the core skill the role is built around — not just diagnosing the imbalance, but developing and honing levers to address it. Get product in front of the right audience at the right time Partnering with product and engineering you create usable data frameworks for making product and assortment decisions — shaping feed ranking, search, PDPs, and editorial placement, not just the homepage carousel. The goal is influence embedded throughout the experience, wherever it moves the category forward. Set the category's seasonal messaging cadence Work with merchandising, marketing, product and data teams plan seasonal pushes, trend moments, and promotional windows in step with growth marketing, paid media, and supply. Every seasonal moment should be a chance to activate existing inventory and influence and highlight where future supply needs are. Oversee all categories - Womens and Mens/Kids Set direction, delegate real ownership, and build their capability over time. Be the link between daily execution and the VP of Merchandising's strategic priorities — translating one into the other in both directions. Help build the intelligence layer categories run on Contribute to Poshmark's demand intelligence infrastructure — shaping the metrics, cadences, and inputs that make the supply/demand call faster and sharper every season, for you and for whoever holds this seat next. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Commercial Instinct - Strong feel for product, trend, and consumer behavior — what people want and why - Comfortable making recommendations with incomplete information - Background in retail, marketplace, or e-commerce merchandising Analytical Fluency - Confident reading dashboards, sell-through reports, and performance data - Knows which metrics matter and can spot meaningful patterns in noisy data - Able to build and present a clear, data-grounded business case Cross-functional Influence - Experienced working across product, growth, and supply teams - Can translate merchandising priorities into language that resonates with each team - Builds trust and alignment without relying on authority People & Ops - Some prior management experience, or a clear track record of leading projects and guiding junior teammates - Organized and reliable — manages competing priorities without dropping balls - Thrives in a build-mode environment with evolving processes NICE TO HAVE - Resale or secondhand market experience - Fashion or apparel category background - Experience in a two-sided marketplace - Familiarity with feed ranking or search merchandising - Exposure to demand forecasting or inventory planning tools EXPERIENCE 5–8 years in merchandising, buying, or category management, ideally within a consumer marketplace, e-commerce platform, or multi-category retailer. Experience managing at least one direct report is preferred, but will consider strong individual contributors who are ready to step into a people management role for the first time.
