Remote | Full-time | U.S. Wood-Frame Residential Projects
Across Clocks is hiring an experienced Revit drafter to support a Southern California residential design and engineering team.
The main focus is developing construction documents from an established design and Revit model, then updating the drawing set through revisions and city plan-check corrections. Projects primarily include home additions, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and other small residential improvements.
You will work with existing templates, reference drawing sets, and a defined team workflow. This role suits someone who understands wood-frame construction, works efficiently in Revit, and can complete assigned production work independently in a busy environment.
- Develop residential construction drawing sets from supplied Revit models, templates, and reference plans.
- Prepare and update annotations, tags, construction notes, and details, keeping the drawing set consistent.
- Revise plans in response to internal feedback and city plan-check comments.
- Use appropriate Revit families and apply practical knowledge of wood-frame assemblies when developing drawings.
- Coordinate your work and handoffs with the project manager, designers, structural engineers, and permitting team.
- Manage assigned production tasks across multiple small projects, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong professional Revit production skills, particularly in construction documentation, annotations, detailing, and drawing revisions.
- Substantial hands-on experience with wood-frame residential construction and its representation in technical drawings.
- Practical understanding of floor assemblies, foundations and stem walls, engineered floor joists, roof overhangs, and ventilation.
- Ability to use an existing model, templates, and a completed reference set to produce a coordinated construction drawing package with minimal guidance.
- Working knowledge of basic U.S. residential building-code requirements and the ability to apply relevant documentation standards.
- Resourcefulness and sound technical judgment, including recognizing problems, resolving routine issues, and raising focused questions when needed.
- Ability to work accurately at a steady production pace and communicate clearly with a remote team.
- Availability for full-time work, approximately 160 hours per month, with at least a couple of hours of daily overlap with the Los Angeles team. The overlap window will be agreed with the team.
- Preparing residential permit drawing sets for California projects.
- Addressing city plan-check corrections on U.S. residential projects.
- A structural engineering background relevant to wood-frame residential construction.
The team has established Revit templates and project handoffs. Training will cover its internal workflow, project-tracking system, reporting, and communication practices. Candidates should already be comfortable with Revit production and the fundamentals of wood-frame construction.
The team currently works mainly in Revit 2023 and is transitioning to newer versions.
Please include your CV and, where you can share them, relevant residential construction drawing samples. Identify the work you personally completed, the software used, and your contribution to any revisions or permit documentation.
