You will be a pioneer in accelerating the adoption of customized LLMs by government customers. This position is a rare opportunity at a high-growth startup to be a contributor in a cutting-edge field. If you are a current or ex-military officer looking to amplify your impact on AI initiatives in the public sector, this may be a strong fit for you. As a military writing expert, you will sit at the quality assurance stage of generative AI tasks. Your primary job will be reviewing and writing analyses of doctrinal, operational, and strategic documents, which will later be used to train and evaluate AI models. You will also train and mentor junior AI writing specialists working on these projects. You will regularly interface with machine learning engineers and operations teammates to optimize our workflows for improved model outcomes. You will: Audit and create high-quality data related to military topics (written analyses of doctrinal, operational, and strategic documents) used to drive AI innovation Interface with machine learning engineers to align on approaches to generative AI tasks like model comparison or prompt response pairs Work with an operations team to improve overall workflows for generative AI tasks Partner with product managers to provide user feedback on AI Defense Tools At a minimum, you have: 10+ years as a military officer with intelligence, operations, aviation, or ground combat as your primary occupational specialty One tour as an O-4 or higher in a General Officer-level command (e.g. G-level or J-level staff in an intelligence, operations, or plans directorate Graduate of a joint or service intermediate-level school (e.g. Command and General Staff College) Deep interest in AI / ML applications for national security purposes A strong orientation towards outcomes and a history of being scrappy when it counts One of the following MOS/AFSCs and relevant experience: U.S. Army: 14A (Air Defense Artillery Officer). Preferred: 6Z or 3Z identifier. U.S. Space Force: 13S (Space Operations Officer - Missile Warning/Tracking) U.S. Air Force: 13B (Air Battle Manager) or 12X (Strategy Planner) with Homeland Defense or Air Defense Plan experience. Preferred: 11X w/ Prefix W identifier. U.S. Marine Corps: 7202 (Air Control/ Anti-Air Warfare Officer) or 0505 (MAGTF Planner) U.S. Navy: 1110 with Joint/BMD tracking (SWO/ Fleet Plans Officer) or AQD JP1/JP2/JP3 (Joint Plan Qualifies SWO) Key Domain Experience: Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3), Early Warning & Missile Tracking, Counter-UAS (C-UAS), Homeland Defense. System Experience (Any of the following): PATRIOT, THAAD, GMD, IBCS, SBIRS, Aegis BMD. Ideally, you have: An active Top Secret clearance or willingness to obtain one A secondary occupational specialty as a service planner (e.g. Marine Corps MAGTF plans officer) Multiple tours as an O-4 through O-6 at joint or combined commands, combatant commands, service component command (e.g. Army “G” staff, Navy “N” staff, or Air Force “A” staff), or part of a joint task force staff (especially in support of combat operations) This role will start as a remote role and may grow to onsite work in locations like Saint Louis or Washington DC. This is a 6-month contractor position with the opportunity to renew.
