Mobile Architect | 6-Month Contract or Permanent Hire

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mobile Architect to join our team on a contract basis and provide technical architecture and hands-on engineering leadership for mobile and IoT solutions. This role is ideal for someone who can move comfortably between high-level architecture, hands-on technical work, and client consulting.

The Mobile Architect will design scalable mobile architectures, establish technical standards and patterns, and guide development teams in building reliable applications and connected-device experiences. The ideal candidate brings strong React Native, IoT, event-driven architecture, and software architecture experience, along with a proven background in technology consulting.

What You’ll Do

• Define and lead the architecture of mobile applications and connected-device solutions using React Native and related technologies.
• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable architectures for mobile and IoT solutions.
• Design solutions using event-driven and distributed architectures, including messaging, asynchronous processing, and real-time data flows.
• Design integrations between mobile applications, IoT devices, APIs, and backend systems.
• Develop architecture and technical strategies that align with client business requirements and long-term technology goals.
• Evaluate existing applications and technical environments and recommend architectural improvements, modernization strategies, and technology approaches.
• Translate business and technical requirements into practical architecture and solution designs.
• Establish architectural patterns, technical standards, development practices, and integration approaches.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the design and development lifecycle.
• Collaborate directly with clients and stakeholders to understand business challenges, communicate technical concepts, and develop appropriate solutions.
• Lead technical discovery sessions, architecture discussions, design reviews, and solution presentations.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, scalability concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with engineering, product, security, and other technical teams to ensure cohesive end-to-end solutions.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and contribute to development when needed.
• Document architecture, technical decisions, integration patterns, APIs, and solution designs.

Require Qualiications

• 7+ years of experience in software development, solution architecture, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong professional experience developing mobile applications with React Native.
• Proven experience designing and implementing software and mobile application architectures.
• Demonstrated experience designing or delivering IoT solutions, including connected devices, device communication, telemetry, APIs, or IoT platforms.
• Strong experience with event-driven architecture, including asynchronous communication, messaging, event processing, and distributed systems.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with REST APIs, backend systems, and event-driven platforms.
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture principles, design patterns, scalability, security, and system integration.
• Demonstrated experience working in a consulting or client-facing environment, translating client needs into practical technical solutions.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience providing technical leadership, architecture guidance, and mentorship to development teams.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a consulting/contract environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IoT platforms and connected-device ecosystems.
• Experience with MQTT, device management, telemetry, or device-to-device communication.
• Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js.
• Experience with messaging and event platforms such as Kafka or similar technologies.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous architectures.
• Experience with mobile CI/CD, automated testing, application monitoring, and release management.
• Experience with mobile application security, authentication, authorization, and secure data handling.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with APIs, backend services, and IoT platforms.
• Experience leading technical discovery, estimates, proposals, or architecture engagements for clients.
