Our client, an international energy company, is looking to strengthen its development team by hiring an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer C++ (m/f/d) with experience in IoT environments. This is a direct permanent position with the option to work remotely, living in Germany (work Visa).
Modern C++ / Embedded Linux / Embedded Software Engineer (m/f/d)
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and take technical ownership of modern C++ applications and system services running on Embedded Linux.
- Further develop modular multiprocessor firmware architectures, including a shared-memory process model, asynchronous applications, state machines, and IPC (Inter-Process Communication).
- Work on core runtime components such as firmware core services, configuration management, event processing, data logging, and component discovery.
- Build, flash, configure, and debug firmware on real target devices and test benches.
- Maintain CMake-based build systems and develop automated unit, module, and system tests.
Your Qualifications
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, or a comparable technical discipline.
- At least five years of professional experience in Embedded Linux software development or a comparable position.
- Strong practical experience in developing and debugging software on Embedded Linux devices.
- Professional experience with modern C++, including C++17/20/23.
- Experience in developing or maintaining modular firmware architectures – not just implementing new features within an existing framework.
- Good knowledge of Linux system programming, particularly processes, concurrency, shared memory, IPC, and asynchronous processing.
- Solid experience with automated testing at unit, module, and system level. Experience with simulators or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments is a strong advantage.
- Experience with CMake, cross-compilation, target-system debugging, and CI/CD.
- Ability to take technical ownership and clearly explain architectural decisions.
- Experience with Yocto, Modbus, RS485, SunSpec, MQTT, Secure Boot, and the implementation of signed updates.
- Very good English skills; German language skills are a plus.
