We are seeking Montenegrin Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Montenegrin, part of the South Slavic language group, is a rare Balkan language needed in immigration and asylum interviews. Responsibilities Provide real-time Montenegrin ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings. Interpret accurately, neutrally, and professionally in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts. Adhere to USCIS/DHS confidentiality and interpreter ethics standards. Handle both scheduled and urgent/surge assignments. Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits. Qualifications Native or near-native fluency in Montenegrin and English. 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, community, or government preferred). Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity. Strong telephone communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance. Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay: $25–30/hour. Remote work through secure USCIS-approved systems.
