The Mortgage Loan Originator I plays a pivotal role in assisting individuals by securing financing for home purchases or refinancing existing loans. The Mortgage Loan Originator I meets with borrowers to understand their financial goals and provides guidance throughout the loan process. This role is responsible for developing relationships with borrowers, real estate agents, and referral partners, while staying informed of local market trends to create an effective sales approach. The Mortgage Loan Originator I will also identify cross-sell opportunities to promote Credit Union products and services. In addition, this role must maintain a working knowledge of all rules and regulations pertaining to mortgage applications to ensure a smooth and extraordinary experience for all parties involved. Registration in the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) is required for this position. If not currently registered, the individual will be required to pass applicable background screening, which may be different from what was required to become employed by the Credit Union. The duties and responsibilities of a Mortgage Loan Originator I include, but are not limited to: Building strong, collaborative relationships with borrowers, agents, sellers, and the title company by providing consistent, proactive updates that provide confidence and ensure a smooth loan process. Completing all required compliance training and annual NMLS certification in a timely manner. Maintaining up to date public notary and insurance licensing as required. Effectively organizing daily tasks to ensure all loan and compliance deadlines are met with accuracy and timeliness. Maintaining technical skills in all mortgage operation systems (POS, LOS, Servicing Director, and Meridian Link) and any other software programs necessary for accurate job performance. Enhancing expertise and skills related to the role or the industry by actively pursuing development opportunities, such as attending conferences, acquiring certifications, completing learning courses internally or other relevant platforms, and engaging in both internal and external leadership programs. Flexibility to work after hours and weekends based on business needs is required.
