Position Summary The Mortgage Operations Specialist provides cross-functional support across the mortgage department to ensure operational efficiency, service quality, and business continuity. This role serves as a versatile team member capable of supporting multiple functional areas including loan delivery, disclosures, lock desk activities, processing, closing, post-closing, HMDA review, quality control, and operational initiatives as business needs dictate. This individual serves as a key resource during employee absences, staffing transitions, volume fluctuations, special projects, and operational backlogs. The successful candidate will possess strong critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and the ability to quickly learn, retain, and apply new concepts across multiple mortgage disciplines. The ideal candidate is highly adaptable, detail-oriented, organized, and capable of transitioning between responsibilities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and customer service. Success in this role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a willingness to learn new processes and technologies, and the ability to effectively support a variety of operational functions within a fast-paced mortgage environment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provide operational support across multiple mortgage functions as assigned. Serve as backup support for key operational positions during employee absences, vacations, staffing transitions, or volume surges. Assist with loan file review and condition clearing to facilitate timely loan progression. Support disclosure desk activities including document preparation, tracking, and compliance-related reviews. Assist with rate lock desk functions including lock requests, lock extensions, and exception tracking. Support loan closing activities including document review, balancing, funding preparation, and post-closing follow-up. Assist with post-closing and secondary marketing activities including loan delivery and investor documentation. Perform HMDA data review and quality control activities to ensure data accuracy and completeness. Monitor assigned pipelines and identify loans requiring additional attention or escalation. Participate in quality control initiatives and process improvement efforts. Assist with department reporting, workflow monitoring, and operational metrics. Support implementation of new products, procedures, technologies, and regulatory changes. Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned. Maintain current knowledge of mortgage products, compliance requirements, investor guidelines, and internal procedures. Secondary Duties in Position Assist with training and onboarding activities. Document procedures and workflow processes. Participate in departmental meetings and planning sessions. Provide recommendations for operational efficiencies and process improvements. Perform administrative and operational duties as assigned. Education and Experience Required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Banking, or related field. One to three years of mortgage, banking, financial services, or related operations experience preferred. Equivalent Experience Considered Candidates with strong analytical abilities, demonstrated learning agility, and professional experience in environments requiring multi-tasking, problem-solving, and process management will be considered regardless of prior mortgage experience.
