Reporting to: Chief Executive

Eleven Degrees is leading the search for a Movement Liaison for a philanthropically funded Australian organisation working to shift public attitudes to energy and climate. The organisation is committed to learning from partner organisations across the movement, and to sharing generously what it learns about strategies, tactics, audiences, messages and channels.

The Movement Liaison is a strategic thinker who builds and maintains relationships with many partner organisations, so that every organisation involved is better off for working together.

The role
  • Build and look after relationships with partner organisations across the climate and energy movement, and set up simple, clear arrangements for sharing information with them.
  • Develop and maintain a map of who is doing what across the movement, so the organisation and its partners can see where their work connects.
  • Set up a shared approach to research and polling, so findings from different organisations can be compared.
  • Share the organisation's learnings through a library of results and regular briefings for partners.
  • Keep the team across what partners are working on, their priorities and the moments coming up on their calendars.
  • Represent the organisation in coalitions, working groups and sector meetings.
  • Spot opportunities to collaborate on research, campaigns and events, and bring the right people together.
  • Connect partners with each other where their work overlaps.
  • Bring partner feedback into the organisation's planning, so what it builds is useful to the wider movement.

About you
  • Experience leading partnerships or coalitions in a climate, union or progressive organisation, managing grants with partner reporting, leading agency accounts, or in research and evaluation close to the movement.
  • A track record of building trust with organisations whose priorities differ from yours.
  • You read organisational politics quickly and stay independent of them.
  • Curiosity about what drives different organisations and the people in them.
  • Clear writing: you can turn research into a briefing a busy CEO reads to the end.
  • You follow through, and people can rely on your notes and records.
  • Existing relationships in the Australian climate movement are a plus.

Working here
  • 25 days' annual leave, and the office closes on full pay between Christmas and New Year.
  • Flexible hours, built around a handful of regular team meetings.
  • A small, experienced team, and the chance to shape a new organisation from its first year.

Selection process

Interviews are built around real situations from the role, and shortlisted candidates complete a short, paid task. The standard six-month probation period applies.

Applying

  • There's no closing date. We're reading applications as they come in and will make an offer as soon as we meet the right person, so don't wait.

  • Let Eleven Degrees know if you need any adjustments to take part.
  • This role is open to everyone, and we'd especially like to hear from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. If you don't tick every box, apply anyway.
