Position: MRA Coding & Documentation Educator
The MRA Coding and Documentation Educator supports provider education and documentation improvement efforts by delivering training, assisting with audits, and collaborating with clinical teams to ensure accurate and compliant risk adjustment coding.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and participate in meetings with POD leadership to review audit results and support accurate diagnosis documentation
- Develop disease-specific coding and documentation materials including presentations and handouts
- Manage open encounters and collaborate with APPs and MDs to support timely note closure
- Assist with provider education sessions, including POD education series and training initiatives
- Support POD MDs with gap list reviews and documentation opportunities
- Provide timely communication to providers regarding clinical documentation opportunities and queries
- Support audit activities through chart review and identification of documentation opportunities
- Partner with leadership and clinical teams to implement education based on audit findings
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- CPC or CRC Certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of Medicare Risk Adjustment experience
- Ability to present to small and mid-sized groups on coding and documentation topics
- Knowledge of HCC models, risk adjustment, and compliant documentation of diagnosis and Category II codes
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Maintains current knowledge of regulatory, documentation, and coding guidelines including CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and E/M coding
- Familiarity with STARs performance measures and metrics
- Written and verbal communication skills, including communication with providers
