JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: National Sales Manager
Reporting to: Regional Director
Location: Hybrid / National
Additional Requirements: National travel will be required, with regular client meetings, industry networking and attendance at relevant sector events.
Job Purpose
At Newcross Healthcare, our mission is to deliver exceptional care through exceptional people.
As National Sales Manager, you will play a key role in driving the continued commercial growth of Newcross Healthcare across the UK. You will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, developing strategic client relationships and growing our presence within key healthcare and social care markets.
This is a senior, commercially focused role for an experienced sales professional who understands the healthcare and/or social care market and can use their existing market knowledge and relationships to accelerate growth.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working with children's homes and children's social care providers, although this is not essential. Our preference is for someone who already understands the sector, knows the key challenges facing providers and has established relationships with relevant decision-makers.
The successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running, using their knowledge, network and commercial experience to identify opportunities, open doors and develop long-term partnerships.
You will take ownership of the national sales pipeline, from prospect identification and initial engagement through to negotiation, conversion and ongoing account development.
This is a fast-paced and commercially important role, suited to someone who is ambitious, resilient and motivated by delivering measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
National Sales
Develop and deliver a clear national sales strategy focused on sustainable revenue growth and new business acquisition.
Identify priority markets, sectors, organisations and decision-makers where Newcross can add value.
Proactively generate new business through networking, referrals, market intelligence, direct prospecting, client meetings and industry events.
Use existing sector knowledge and relationships to open new commercial opportunities.
Build and maintain a strong national sales pipeline, ensuring a consistent flow of qualified opportunities.
Lead the sales process from initial engagement through to proposal, negotiation, contract and successful client onboarding.
Identify opportunities to expand Newcross's presence within existing markets and develop new areas of growth.
Client & Relationship Management
Build trusted, long-term relationships with senior stakeholders, including Directors, CEOs, Operations Directors, HR Directors, Procurement and Workforce leaders.
Take a consultative approach to understanding each client's workforce requirements and challenges.
Position Newcross as a strategic workforce partner rather than simply a staffing provider.
Develop relationships beyond individual opportunities to create long-term, sustainable accounts.
Identify opportunities to increase client spend, broaden service provision and develop strategic partnerships.
Commercial Performance
Take ownership of national sales targets and revenue objectives.
Develop accurate sales forecasts and maintain clear visibility of future revenue.
Monitor pipeline performance, conversion rates, sales activity and commercial results.
Use CRM systems and sales data to manage activity and identify opportunities for improvement.
Report regularly on sales performance, pipeline development, new business activity and market opportunities.
Ensure sales activity is focused on high-value opportunities that support Newcross's strategic objectives.
Collaboration & Client Onboarding
Work closely with Operations, Recruitment, Marketing and other internal teams to ensure a seamless transition from sales to service delivery.
Ensure client expectations are clearly understood and communicated internally before new business is handed over.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop compelling client propositions and solutions.
Share market intelligence, client feedback and commercial insight across the organisation.
Support the development of new products, services and propositions based on market demand.
Continuous Improvement
Continuously review and improve the sales approach, processes and commercial proposition.
Identify new technologies, tools and approaches that can improve sales effectiveness.
Share market intelligence and best practice across the wider organisation.
Contribute to the ongoing development of Newcross's national commercial strategy.
Undertake any additional responsibilities reasonably required to support the growth and success of Newcross Healthcare.
Core Competencies / Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Proven track record in a senior national sales, business development or commercial role.
Strong experience of new business generation and demonstrable success against sales and revenue targets.
Established experience within healthcare, social care, staffing or another closely related regulated sector.
Strong understanding of the UK healthcare/social care market and the organisations operating within it.
Demonstrable ability to identify and convert new commercial opportunities.
Strong existing network of senior contacts and decision-makers within the sector.
Proven ability to develop relationships at senior and executive level.
Excellent negotiation, influencing and commercial communication skills.
Strong consultative selling approach, with the ability to understand client challenges and develop appropriate solutions.
Experience managing a national or geographically dispersed client base.
Strong pipeline management, forecasting and CRM experience.
Willingness and ability to travel nationally as required.
Desirable
Experience working with children's homes, children's social care providers or related children's services.
Existing relationships with children's home providers, care groups, commissioners or senior decision-makers.
Experience selling workforce, staffing, recruitment or care-related solutions.
Experience developing strategic or preferred supplier relationships.
Existing national network within healthcare or social care.
Experience working within a regulated environment.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who knows the market.
This isn't a role where we expect the successful candidate to spend their first year learning the healthcare and social care landscape. We want someone who already understands the sector, knows the challenges providers face and can identify where Newcross can add value.
You will ideally bring an established network of contacts, strong commercial relationships and a proven ability to turn those relationships into new business.
Most importantly, you will be someone who is commercially ambitious, credible with senior stakeholders and confident creating opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you.
Experience within children's homes is particularly desirable, and candidates with an established network within this market are strongly encouraged to apply.
