Role overview:
The National Transportation Manager provides strategic leadership and hands-on operational support across
Daniels Health's transportation network. The role works directly with Business Unit and transfer station leaders
to deliver safe, reliable, efficient service. This position strengthens consistency and accountability, supports
national transportation programs, and helps sites establish stable daily operations that can sustain growth.

Key responsibilities:
• Provide field leadership and operational oversight across all Business Units and transfer stations. Spend time
on site with leadership and driver teams to assess performance, address priorities, and support daily
execution.
• Lead practical transportation improvements that strengthen efficiency, compliance, service performance, and
cost control. Review routes, labor, overtime, fuel use, fleet capacity, and utilization; work with Finance to
confirm financial results.
• Establish and maintain operating standards, best practices, and key performance indicator (KPI)
accountability. Monitor safety, compliance, delivery in full and on time (DIFOT), missed service, route
adherence, truck utilization, and labor productivity.
• Work directly with Business Unit Directors, Transportation Managers, Supervisors, and frontline leaders to
implement initiatives. Set clear responsibilities and timelines, resolve barriers, and follow up until actions are
completed and results hold.
• Drive execution of current transportation programs and evaluate proposed initiatives with the National
Director of Transportation. Implement approved changes and support new business, routes, fleet, technology,
and site launches.
• Identify and resolve operational challenges affecting service, safety, and network performance, including
staffing, capacity, and recurring service failures. Reinforce transportation safety requirements, driver
hours-of-service compliance, and completion of vehicle inspections.
• Guide sites through operational changes with clear communication, training, and follow-up. Help locations
move from reactive problem solving to reliable daily routines that support stable operations and growth.
• Partner with Fleet, Safety and Compliance, Finance, People & Culture, Customer Service, and other
stakeholders to align transportation plans with business priorities. Provide concise updates on performance,
risks, actions, and results.
• Build a culture of safety, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Coach site
leaders, support driver development, and lead by example through clear expectations, respectful
communication, and consistent follow-through.

Required qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics/Transportation,
Operations Management, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of transportation management leadership experience with responsibility for local and
regional final-mile delivery operations.
• Regional and national transportation leadership experience across multiple sites.
• Demonstrated success implementing transportation programs, strengthening operating standards, resolving
operational challenges, and improving safety, service, cost, capacity, or productivity.
• Working knowledge of transportation safety and compliance, including Department of Transportation (DOT)
requirements, hours of service (HOS), and driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIR).
• Experience with route optimization, ELD/GPS/telematics, DVIR, driver-safety camera systems, WMS/CRM
platforms, and advanced Excel or business-intelligence tools.
• Ability to use route, labor, fleet, staffing, and customer-service data to set priorities, make decisions, and hold
teams accountable for performance.
• Strong communication, sound judgment, and a hands-on servant-leadership approach. Ability to coach
teams, build trust, and influence across functions without relying on positional authority.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently to Business Units and transfer stations.
Preferred qualifications:
• Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience in medical waste, healthcare logistics, environmental services, waste management, or another
regulated service environment.
• CDL or prior commercial-driving experience is valued but is not required for this role.
• Experience applying Kaizen and or Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methods to improve transportation safety, service, efficiency, and cost performance.
