Are you an excellent communicator who can build trust, influence outcomes and confidently navigate complex challenges? Do you enjoy bringing people together to solve problems, advocating for customers and making balanced decisions that consider regulatory, commercial and operational impacts?

In this role, you'll work with stakeholders at every level of the organisation, acting as a trusted point of expertise for NAV related matters. If you thrive in a fast paced environment where no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you.

A little bit about the role…

New Appointments and Variations, known as NAVs, are independent water companies that provide water and wastewater services to customers within defined geographical areas.

As our NAV Growth and Governance Manager, you will lead Anglian Water’s relationship with NAV organisations and provide commercial, operational and regulatory leadership across multiple developments. You will act as the organisation’s point of expertise for NAV related matters, ensuring our activities meet regulatory requirements, protect company revenue and provide a consistently high standard of service to our customers.

Leading a small Lincoln based team you will oversee the delivery of key statutory and customer facing activities, including bulk supply and discharge agreements, Site Served Status Letters, NAV Pre-Planning Reports, wholesale billing and infrastructure charge invoicing. You will ensure these activities are appropriately governed, technically assured and delivered within relevant Levels of Service.

  • Leading and maintaining strong, structured relationships with NAV organisations across the region.
  • Maintaining oversight of statutory deliverables, performance targets, regulatory reporting requirements and Levels of Service commitments.
  • Acting as the senior escalation point for complex or high risk NAV enquiries, complaints and disputes.
  • Providing clear leadership and direction when resolving issues that could create regulatory, financial, commercial or reputational risk.
  • Overseeing NAV infrastructure charge invoicing, supporting accurate income recovery and protecting company revenue in line with relevant charging arrangements.
  • Leading the management of NAV communication channels, including the central NAV mailbox, to ensure timely, accurate and coordinated responses.
  • Providing specialist advice and guidance to colleagues across Anglian Water on NAV related regulatory, operational and commercial matters.
  • Providing assurance to senior leaders that statutory obligations are being met and regulatory exposure is appropriately controlled.
  • Leading, supporting and developing team members, ensuring clear objectives, effective workload prioritisation and accountability for delivery.
  • Driving continuous improvement across NAV processes to strengthen compliance, efficiency, customer experience and commercial performance.
  • Representing Anglian Water in appropriate internal, customer and wider industry discussions.

Key requirements for success in this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with customers and stakeholders of all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex commercial, technical or regulatory matters clearly.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to think strategically and analytically.
  • Confidence handling complex enquiries, escalations, complaints or disputes.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and advocacy skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks, resolving problems and improving processes.
  • Experience within the water or water-recycling industry would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of NAVs, regulatory obligations or developer services would be advantageous, although applications from candidates with relevant transferable leadership, customer and commercial experience are welcomed.
