About Imagineeer
Imagineeer is a fast-growing SBA 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business headquartered in Arlington, VA, delivering federal AI modernization across health, defense, homeland security, and transportation. We design, test, and deploy secure, AI-ready systems that move agencies from pilots to production without breaking governance, compliance, or mission continuity. Our Mission Studio model creates shared environments where policy, data, security, and operations come together. We are capability-driven and competitive by design, not program-dependent. Our leadership has operated inside the federal systems we now transform, bringing institutional knowledge that accelerates delivery and reduces risk. If real delivery motivates you more than slides, and you want your work to compound across programs and agencies, Imagineeer is growing and we are building the team to match.
About the Role
We are seeking a .NET Developer to design, build, operate, and modernize enterprise applications that support federal missions in a regulated environment. You will turn functional requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable components using C#, current .NET platforms, and React. You will work across full-stack web development, cloud-hosted APIs on Azure, automated delivery pipelines, and ongoing operations and maintenance of existing systems. You will work independently on assigned features while collaborating with senior engineers, architects, analysts, and government stakeholders in an Agile and DevSecOps team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using C#, ASP.NET Core, and modern front-end frameworks (Angular or React).
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices, deployed to Microsoft Azure (App Service, Functions, AKS, or similar).
- Modernize legacy applications by migrating .NET Framework code to .NET 6/8+, refactoring for maintainability and performance.
- Design and optimize data access using Entity Framework Core and SQL Server, including queries, stored procedures, and schema changes.
- Write unit and integration tests and take part in code reviews to uphold quality standards.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Apply secure coding practices aligned with OWASP, NIST, and agency security requirements, and remediate findings from security scans.
- Take part in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives) and estimate assigned work.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, and document technical designs and procedures.
- Collaborate with business analysts, testers, and government stakeholders to translate requirements into working software.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field; 4 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development, web application development, and application operations and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience building full-stack web applications with C#, ASP.NET Core (MVC and Web API), current .NET platforms, and Entity Framework.
- Experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Strong SQL skills with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience supporting production applications, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and defect remediation.
- Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines, including automated builds, testing, and deployment.
- Working knowledge of secure development practices, including code review, vulnerability remediation, secrets handling, and dependency management.
- Experience working on Agile/Scrum teams.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination.
- Ability to work on-site in the Washington, DC metro area on a hybrid schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Public Trust (e.g., HHS, DHS, or another civilian agency).
- Prior experience supporting federal government programs.
- Experience with Azure services such as App Service, Functions, Key Vault, and Application Insights, or Azure Government.
- Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Storage concepts, including structured and unstructured storage, access controls, and analytics integration.
- Experience migrating .NET Framework applications to current .NET.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code.
- Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and federal security frameworks (NIST 800-53, FedRAMP).
- Experience using AI-enabled coding tools with appropriate developer review and security controls, or integrating AI/ML services into applications.
- Microsoft certification, such as Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).
