Network Engineer

Bolton Clarke Residential group now has 87 Aged Care Homes across QLD, NSW, VIC, SA & WA, with the inclusion of the Allity, McKenzie & Acacia Living Group.

About the position

As a Network Engineer, you will play a key hands-on technical leadership role in the design, implementation, transition and ongoing optimisation of Bolton Clarke’s enterprise network services. This role will lead major network transformation initiatives, including the transition of LAN and WLAN services from Cisco to Juniper, the rollout of Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN and integration with Palo Alto Prisma SASE.

Working across geographically dispersed care, corporate and data centre environments, you will translate architecture and business requirements into secure, resilient and supportable network solutions.

This is a max term full time 12-month contract based in Brisbane Melbourne or Syndey with some travel required for set up.

The Network Engineer will design, implement and support enterprise network services covering:

• Enterprise LAN, WLAN, WAN, internet, data centre and cloud network services
• Cisco to Juniper switching and wireless transformation
• Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN, Prisma SASE and secure connectivity
• Network automation, observability and AI-assisted operations
• Complex incident resolution, resilience and service continuity
• Technical design, migration planning, standards and operational handover

Key Activities:

• Lead the technical design and implementation of Bolton Clarke’s enterprise transition from Cisco switching and wireless platforms to Juniper Networks
• Own discovery, current-state assessment, target-state design, technical standards, pilots, migration waves, cutover plans and technical acceptance
• Design and implement Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN, Prisma SASE and secure branch connectivity patterns, including segmentation, application-aware routing and cloud connectivity
• Engineer secure, resilient and scalable enterprise network services across LAN, WLAN, WAN, internet, data centre and cloud environments
• Lead complex troubleshooting, major incident response, root cause analysis and corrective actions across network and security domains
• Automate repeatable configuration, validation, reporting and compliance activities using APIs, scripting, infrastructure-as-code or equivalent tooling
• Produce high-quality technical designs, migration runbooks, implementation plans, diagrams, standards and operational documentation

Skills and experience

• Substantial senior-level experience designing, implementing and supporting large, complex, multi-site enterprise networks
• Deep hands-on capability across Cisco enterprise routing, switching and wireless technologies, with strong Juniper enterprise networking experience
• Experience leading major network transformation or migration programs while remaining hands-on across design and implementation
• Hands-on exposure to Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN, Prisma SASE or Prisma Access, next-generation firewalls and centralised management platforms
• Advanced troubleshooting capability across routing, switching, wireless, WAN, internet, security and application performance domains
• Experience with network automation, APIs, scripting, observability tools and configuration management practices
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders and provide clear recommendations

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent professional experience
