About The Role
The Network Engineer I position is a vital role within the IT team, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's enterprise network infrastructure. This remote position is open exclusively to Missouri residents and offers an opportunity to work Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with on-call responsibilities and after-hours network maintenance. The successful candidate will assist in designing, implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting network systems to ensure reliable connectivity for staff and the communities served. Working closely with a collaborative team, the Network Engineer I will support daily operations, optimize network performance, and implement secure technology solutions across multiple locations. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving technical challenges, expanding their networking expertise, and supporting healthcare teams in delivering exceptional care through robust technology infrastructure.

Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of equivalent work experience in network engineering preferred
- Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols
- Proficiency with configuration and deployment of Cisco, Meraki, HP, Aruba, Velocloud, and Fortinet devices and software
- Strong understanding of network security standards and configuration
- High-level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex networking issues
- Ability to research and evaluate new networking technologies and products
- Experience coordinating with vendors, contractors, and internal teams on network projects
- Excellent documentation skills for maintaining network diagrams, technical specifications, and asset inventories
- Experience managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and minimum automobile coverage as per agency requirements
- Preferred certifications include Cisco CCNA or equivalent experience
- Effective communication skills to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently with strong self-direction and initiative
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
- Support the maintenance, configuration, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless technologies, and security appliances
- Assist with network design, capacity planning, and implementation of infrastructure improvements
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability and availability
- Support network security through system maintenance, backups, disaster recovery planning, and adherence to security best practices
- Research and evaluate emerging network technologies, products, and services to support future initiatives
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to execute network projects and service enhancements
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, technical specifications, and asset inventories
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights as assigned, ensuring security and compliance
- Recommend and assist with approved network upgrades, repairs, and performance improvements
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative environment
- Ensure all activities comply with privacy, confidentiality, and information security standards
