About The Role
The Network Engineer I position is a vital role within the IT department, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure. This remote position is open exclusively to Missouri residents and offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with on-call responsibilities and after-hours network maintenance as needed. The successful candidate will assist in designing, implementing, monitoring, and troubleshooting network systems to ensure seamless connectivity for staff and the communities served. Working closely with a collaborative IT team, you will play a crucial part in supporting daily operations, optimizing network performance, and ensuring security compliance across multiple locations. Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience preferred
- Expert knowledge of routing and switching protocols
- Proficiency with Cisco, Meraki, HP, Aruba, Velocloud, and Fortinet devices and software
- Strong understanding of network security standards and best practices
- Ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues effectively
- Experience with network design, capacity planning, and infrastructure implementation
- Research skills for evaluating new network technologies and products
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with minimum automobile coverage required
- Preferred certifications include Cisco CCNA or equivalent experience
- Ability to work independently with strong self-direction and initiative
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Support the maintenance, configuration, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless technologies, and security appliances
- Assist with network design, capacity planning, and infrastructure upgrades
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability and availability
- Implement and support network security measures, including system maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery processes
- Research and evaluate emerging network technologies, products, and services to support future initiatives
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate network projects and service delivery
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation, technical specifications, and asset inventories
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights as assigned
- Recommend and assist with network upgrades, repairs, and performance enhancements
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, ensuring compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and security standards
