Position Overview

A global aerospace and aviation technology organization is seeking an experienced Network Implementation Engineer to join its growing network implementation team.

The organization operates a secure, private global network supporting critical aviation, transportation, and other essential industries worldwide. This individual will lead complex network implementations from initial design through activation and support while helping develop the technical capabilities of junior engineers.

This is a senior, hands-on networking position. Formal training experience is not required. The ideal candidate is someone who has served as a technical lead, guided junior engineers, reviewed their work, helped them troubleshoot difficult issues, and established consistent engineering standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple network implementation projects from initial design through activation, cutover, and ongoing support
  • Configure and optimize Cisco routers and switches in production WAN environments
  • Build router configurations using standardized templates
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot BGP routing
  • Work directly with customers and field technicians to manage WAN circuit activations
  • Develop detailed network cutover plans and execute production cutovers
  • Troubleshoot complex routing, connectivity, firewall, application, and network-performance issues
  • Serve as an escalation point for advanced technical challenges
  • Provide technical leadership and day-to-day guidance to junior network engineers
  • Review junior engineers work and help ensure implementations follow established standards and best practices
  • Coach engineers through troubleshooting, network configurations, cutovers, and customer-facing situations
  • Maintain network documentation, including circuit information, asset records, diagrams, implementation guides, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews and recommend improvements
  • Create standard operating procedures, implementation playbooks, work instructions, and troubleshooting guides
  • Evaluate new networking tools and technologies and help the team understand how to use them
  • Identify process improvements that increase network reliability, scalability, and team efficiency
  • Provide technical support during calls with existing and prospective customers

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • CCNA certification
  • At least five years of experience configuring Cisco routers and switches within a production WAN environment
  • Strong hands-on experience building router configurations using templates
  • Strong BGP routing experience
  • Knowledge of OSPF, MPLS, NAT, VPNs, firewalls, and network security principles
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or providing hands-on technical guidance to junior network engineers
  • Ability to review the work of junior engineers and coach them through complex technical issues
  • Ability to manage multiple high-visibility network implementation projects
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across network, routing, firewall, and application environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with customers, field technicians, engineers, and cross-functional teams

Education and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM field with at least eight years of relevant experience
  • Advanced degree in a related field with at least five years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP certification
  • Experience developing or delivering technical training
  • Experience creating onboarding materials, hands-on labs, or structured technical content
  • Experience analyzing packet captures or system logs to diagnose network and application issues
  • Experience implementing WAN connectivity within a large enterprise or service-provider environment
  • Experience creating network diagrams, implementation guides, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting playbooks
  • Knowledge of Cisco ASA firewalls, DMVPN, and large-scale global WAN environments
  • Experience supporting aviation or transportation network environments

Important Requirements

U.S. citizenship is mandatory. Candidates who are not U.S. citizens or who require current or future immigration sponsorship cannot be considered.

This is not a traditional trainer position. Formal training experience is a plus, but it is not required. The successful candidate must be a senior, hands-on network engineer who has previously led junior engineers, provided technical direction, served as an escalation point, and helped less-experienced team members improve their networking and troubleshooting skills.
