At ENTRUST, now part of Leidos, we're helping utilities modernize infrastructure, strengthen communities, and deliver reliable energy to the customers who depend on it. Our teams support some of the nation's largest utility providers through engineering, program management, field services, and construction support initiatives that power the future.
We're seeking a New Business Project Manager to support new electric service projects and customer-driven distribution initiatives throughout the Greater Chicago area.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a highly collaborative environment, enjoys working directly with customers and utility stakeholders, and brings a strong understanding of utility construction, distribution operations, or electric utility project execution.
Whether your background is in utility construction management, electric distribution operations, field engineering, utility design, or customer project delivery, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
As a New Business Project Manager, you'll serve as a key liaison between customers, stakeholders, contractors, and internal project teams, helping move new service and infrastructure projects from planning through execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a portfolio of customer-focused electric distribution projects, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, engineering teams, construction partners, municipal agencies, developers, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate project planning activities including scope development, scheduling, resource coordination, risk management, and stakeholder communications.
- Conduct site visits, field assessments, and project walkdowns as needed.
- Coordinate project execution across planning, design, estimating, construction, operations, and customer organizations.
- Monitor project financials and identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining service quality.
- Provide clear and proactive communication regarding project status, milestones, risks, schedule changes, and customer commitments.
- Support construction readiness efforts including material coordination, contractor alignment, customer requirements, and field execution planning.
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with utility standards, regulatory requirements, and customer commitments.
- Act as a trusted advisor and customer advocate throughout the project delivery process.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position supporting projects throughout the Greater Chicago area.
Team members can expect:
- Approximately 40-60% field and client-facing activities
- Regular interaction with utility personnel, customers, and contractors
- A blend of field coordination, stakeholder meetings, and office-based project management responsibilities
- Participation in team collaboration days at our Chicago-area office
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.
- Experience managing projects, programs, construction activities, utility operations, or customer-focused initiatives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional teams.
- Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field; OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience supporting electrical utility, gas utility, renewable energy, telecommunications, or infrastructure projects.
- Utility distribution construction, field operations, or electric distribution experience.
- Experience working directly with utility customers, developers, municipalities, or contractors.
- Previous experience supporting utility programs or utility new business services.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar credential.
- Engineering, design, construction management, or field engineering experience.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Former utility operations, field services, construction management, or utility project delivery experience.
